We finished my first feature film back in early March 2020, but understandably because of the pandemic, we never got a chance to watch the final product as a cast & crew. So in 2021, I made it a resolution (or goal is more apt) to have one, even if it was small and intimate. That dream came true finally. Last Thursday we finally got a chance to watch the movie together! And what an experience it was. I share the many insights I had from the experience and why it's important to have moments like that. This is my review of Old, a thriller film written, directed, and co-produced by M. Night Shyamalan, loosely based on the Swiss graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters. The film's ensemble cast includes Gael García Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Eliza Scanlen, Thomasin McKenzie, Alex Wolff, Abbey Lee, Aaron Pierre, Rufus Sewell, Ken Leung, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Embeth Davidtz, Emun Elliott, and Kathleen Chalfant. The film follows a group of people who find themselves aging rapidly on a secluded beach from which they cannot escape. Hello, I’m filmmaker Phil Svitek and I've gotten together with my talent friends to make a feature film called Autumn Into Fall. It’s about Neel who’s turning 35 and still hasn’t found purpose. Even if he did, he doesn’t have anyone to share life’s beautiful moments with. He hopes that a trip to Bogota provides the spark he needs. Meanwhile, Violet studied abroad there and brought her two best friends to recreate the fun she had in hopes to soften the blow when she gets married and moves away. Their worlds collide when they bump into each other. As they grow closer, it could spell disaster for their lives back home. A preliminary filming schedule and shot list have been completed on my upcoming feature film (for more context on the project, visit https://igg.me/at/philsvitekfilm)! This is a major step as it allows the production team to have meaningful dialogue and move forward with logistics. I also talk about how it's okay for artists to have different processes in achieving results. Then I discuss the importance of physical activity for one's mental health, provide so actor rehearsal techniques and round things out by talking how deconstructing something is only useful when it serves a purpose. With video footage being 4K and upwards nowadays, it means file sizes are HUGE. So how does one edit with such large files. Enter proxies! Proxies are a smaller, lower resolution version of your footage used as an intermediary so you can edit smoother and faster. And Adobe's made it really easy to create them and then relink to your full resolution footage. This is a tutorial on how the process works. This is my review of Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain. It's a  documentary film directed and produced by Morgan Neville. The film follows the life and career of Anthony Bourdain, who died by suicide on June 8, 2018 at the age of 61 while on location in France for his CNN show Parts Unknown. The documentary features interviews with David Chang and Éric Ripert, as well as members of the production crew from Parts Unknown. The title alludes to "Roadrunner", a song by The Modern Lovers, that appears in the film.It follows the life and career of celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain. The film had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 11, 2021, and was released in the United States on July 16, 2021 by Focus Features. It received critical acclaim, but it also garnered controversy over its use of artificial intelligence technology to reproduce Bourdain's voice for some audio clips.
