WE'RE BACK with Episode 4 of A Pint With a Purpose. In celebration of LGBTQ+ history month, we speak to Dan Durkin, an activist and friend of the podcast. He shares with us his journey in the LGBTQ+ world, what he envisions as the steps still needing to be taken to ensure equality of all and how we can all become better allys to our friends and families in the LGBTQ+ world.
Six Connections - #PoweredByMatesThis week we welcome Dan and Saphia to the podcast.
The BLM protests after the death of George Floyd sparked a global conversation on the issue of race, and although the conversation has begun, speaking to Dan and Saphia we realise how much further there is to go.
As hosts of The Lowdown Podcast, we spoke to them about their heritage and what growing up as a minority meant to them, the importance of allyship and what they expect to see in their friends/ /colleagues/ and strangers, as well the reality of how much more still needs to be done. A frank, honest and thought-provoking episode, we hope you enjoy.
On the lighter side, we also discuss Uni debauchery, drunken alter egos and how to escape your uni halls warden. Something for everyone!

Tom is the founder of @_blokes , a place for men to open up and share their stories on mental health. Tom has built a growing community of men, primarily in sport, who now lean on and support each other in difficult times.
However the success of this was built on the foundations of his own struggles, and in this podcast we talk about the challenges that Tom has had to face along the way. Amazingly eye-opening and wrought with emotion. Thanks for sharing Tom!

Today we talk to a good friend of the podcast. Seb is currently applying his trade as a Pro Rugby player over in France for Beauvais RC. Whilst playing Rugby for Nottingham University in 2016, he sustained a major concussion that left him with a number of lasting effects including a prolonged stay in hospital with his memory in tatters. He talks to us about the dark hole that he found himself in, how he battled the odds of never playing rugby again, and how asking for help was the first steps on his road to recovery.
This week we talk all things RONA. Should we be allowed home for Christmas? Should we feel guilty about spending time with loved ones in a year unlike any other? Plus, we let our hair down a little, and decide to plan our dream Covid Party. Expect your invites for April 2021!
