Target Audience
This activity is targeted toward primary care physicians and advanced providers.
Statement of Need
This program will address the newly updated ADA Standards of Care as well as highlight best practices in the screening and management of type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes continues to rise in prevalence among adults, with expanding clinical complexity due to the increasing burden of comorbidities such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, and liver disease.
Objectives
Review trends and incidence of type 2 diabetes in adult patients and associated comorbidities.
Discuss evidence-based guidelines for screening and management of type 2 diabetes incorporating the updated guidelines from the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Standards of Care.
Describe patient-centered communication strategies to guide and motivate adult patients with type 2 diabetes to adopt lifestyle modifications.
