Statement of Need With the 2023 DEA regulation changes, physicians can now treat patients with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) without requiring an X waiver. As the demand for treatment providers rises, primary care providers are pivotal in addressing this gap by initiating OUD treatments. Given that primary care often serves as the first point of contact within the healthcare system, it's crucial for providers to identify patients who could benefit from OUD treatment. However, many providers fail to recognize these patients and may refer them elsewhere, missing opportunities for immediate care.

• Describe screening guidelines and key diagnostic criteria for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD)
• Discuss effective medications for the treatment of opioid use disorder (MOUD).

Statement of NeedAdolescents with Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) face a significantly higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD) compared to their peers without diabetes. Regular physical activity is crucial for these young individuals, as it helps mitigate CVD risk and improves cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF). Therefore, promoting lifelong physical activity, with appropriate insulin and dietary adjustments, is essential for managing T1DM and preventing CVD. This podcast will highlight the benefits of exercise in preventing cardiovascular disease, describe the advantages of sports activities, and outline clinical guidelines for safe exercise practices in adolescents with T1DM.

Statement of Need This program will highlight the essentials of functional medicine; defining how it addresses illness in respect to looking at the underlying cause of the disease. According to the CDC, 6 out of 10 Americans have at least one form of chronic disease that could be modified by lifestyle. This podcast will highlight key aspects of functional medicine and its role in lifestyle modification with tips on how providers can incorporate key principles into practice.

Objectives At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to: 

1. Define functional medicine.
2. Discuss the benefits of functional medicine. 
3. Discuss key principles of functional medicine that can be incorporated into practice.

Statement of NeedThis program will provide the latest information on the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric hypertension. Additionally, risk factors and etiology will be reviewed. Hypertension in the pediatric population continues to rise; and rates have shown an increasing linear relationship to increasing adiposity. According to the CDC, approximately 20% of children less than 19 are considered obese.

Objectives 

At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to: 

1. Define pediatric hypertension.
2. List the diagnostic guidelines for pediatric hypertension.
3. Review the proper technique for taking blood pressure in pediatric patients to ensure accuracy.
4. Describe the etiology and risk factors for pediatric hypertension.
