  • Friday Focus: Look for Good Works

What if some of the good works God has prepared for you aren’t big, dramatic things—but ordinary opportunities sitting right in front of you?

    Ephesians 2:10 tells us:

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

In this week’s Friday Focus, we’re taking that truth into the weekend and asking a simple question:

“God, what good works have You put in front of me today?”

Maybe it’s encouraging someone who needs it, noticing the person who is often overlooked, serving your family, being generous, forgiving someone, or simply stopping long enough to recognize an opportunity to love someone well.

And remember the verses immediately before Ephesians 2:10: we aren’t saved by our good works. We are saved by grace through faith—and then created in Christ Jesus for good works.

So this weekend, pay attention. Look at the people and needs God has placed around you, and don’t dismiss an opportunity just because it seems small.

🤎 Your Friday Focus: Look for the good works. God has prepared them; our job is to walk in them.

  • Most Christians Fall Into One of These Extremes | It’s Not About Being Perfect

Have you ever felt like your walk with God swings between two extremes?

On one side, our faith can become driven by our feelings—when we feel close to God, we pursue Him, but when we don’t, our habits fall apart. On the other side, we can turn our faith into a religious checklist—Bible reading, prayer, quiet time, serving—doing all the “right” things while forgetting the relationship behind them.

In this episode of A Preacher’s Wife, we’re talking about these two extremes and what it looks like to pursue God faithfully without chasing feelings or falling into empty religious routine.

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about pursuing Him.

  • Friday Focus: Pay Attention to What You’re Paying Attention To

What has been getting most of your attention lately?

It’s easy to become so focused on everything that’s wrong—our worries, disappointments, unfinished tasks, and difficult circumstances—that we lose sight of what is still true.

In this week’s Friday Focus, we’re looking at Philippians 4 and reminding ourselves that Scripture doesn’t tell us to pretend the hard things aren’t hard. Instead, it redirects our attention to what is true.

Sometimes we don’t need better circumstances before we can have joy. Sometimes we need to remember what is true.

Take this little reminder with you into your weekend: Pay attention to what you’re paying attention to.

  • The Dangerous Lie Many Christians Believe | Are You Spiritually Starving?

Are you spiritually starving without realizing it?

In this episode of A Preacher’s Wife, we’re talking about a dangerous lie many Christians believe—and how easy it is to neglect the very thing we need most: time in God’s Word.

We’ll talk about what spiritual hunger can look like, why simply being around Christian content isn’t the same as personally spending time in Scripture, and how we can begin nourishing our faith with God’s Word again.

This isn’t about adding another obligation to your to-do list or creating the “perfect” quiet time. It’s about recognizing our need for truth and learning to come back to the Word that feeds us.

  • Why Do Some Sins Feel Worse Than Others?

Why do some sins seem worse than others? Are there actually “big sins” and “little sins”—or have we created categories God never did?

In this episode, we’re looking at what Scripture says about sin, why certain sins feel more serious to us, and how our own perspective can sometimes distort the way we see both our sin and the sins of others.

We’ll talk about the danger of comparing ourselves to other people, why our hearts can justify certain choices, and how Scripture gives us a much better standard than simply asking, “Is this really that bad?”

Scriptures mentioned include: 1 John 3:4, Proverbs 14:12, and Proverbs 16:25.
