Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life!” right before He raised Lazarus back to life after he had been in the grave for four days. Everyone thought it was too late, but Jesus is never late. Does it seem that He four days late in your life? Is He four decades late? It doesn’t matter - one day is as a thousand years to Him, and a thousand years as one day! Has God promised you something? Is there a God-given picture or dream in your heart that has yet to come to pass? Is there a promise in scripture that you have been hanging on to? Are there promises you didn’t even know were there in His Word? Find them, and stand on every one of them. You can eagerly expect the glory of God because God’s delay is not His no. His delay is His patience to give you the best of His goodness and to show you something about Jesus that you never knew.

During the wilderness journey of the Israelites, we see three times that they ran out of water, but God provided thorough Jesus, who was depicted in an Old Testament shadow. He is the Rock from whom blessings flows. Jesus is our Giver of the River of life: the Giver of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is our restful fruitfulness. We abide in Him and His words abide in us, and fruit is born effortlessly. Abiding is simply looking unto Jesus, setting our minds on Him and things above, being conscious of His love and our union with Him. Abiding in His love always takes us back to the cross.
