I was friends with Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman. She was assassinated because she devoted her life to trying to bring a better life to other people. The last remnants of this darkness we've been dealing with sentenced her to a horrible death for being who she was. You have heard the news about this. You have heard that a politician from Minnesota was murdered last Friday night. I want to tell you a few stories about her as a person. She was fierce yet gracious and kind. She was funny and thoughtful.

She was also the most consequential Speaker of the House in Minnesota history. She was a main ingredient in getting the legendary legislation made into law in the 2023 legislative session. You've heard about that. It helped catapult our Governor Tim Walz to be the VP candidate in 2024. He, I, and so many other people who knew were decimated this last weekend. But she would want us to get back up and get through this evil, vile chapter with even more determination. So that's what we're all going to do...together.
