In today's episode, I converse with Skyler Fiel, a photographer based in the West Chester, PA area. Despite having considerable photography experience, Skyler set a goal last January—to secure 52 paid photography engagements by the year's end.

Our discussion delves into his journey, starting with his role as an assistant and second shooter for weddings. Skyler has earned a reputation as a diligent worker, earning the admiration of his peers in the photography community. 

Skyler's path to securing assistant and second-shooting opportunities involves platforms like ShootWithMe, repeat bookings, and positive word of mouth. While he predominantly uses Sony cameras for his shoots, he remains undecided about the MagMod system.

As of January 2024, Skyler boasts an impressive 5-star rating and has garnered 29 reviews on ShootWithMe. His profile proudly displays badges for being a "Favorited User," "Most Booked," "Repeat Hire," and "Top Reviewed Assistant."

In addition to his professional achievements, Skyler shares a personal update—he's set to tie the knot this fall, and they're opting for a more intimate venue.

This downtown Philadelphia wedding proved to be a rollercoaster of emotions. The journey commenced on a positive note, but excitement escalated during Groom prep when my Apple Airtag indicated that my bag of flashes was making its way around Philadelphia. Amidst the First Look, we encountered the delightful fragrance of female Ginkgo tree nuts, adding a unique touch to the experience. Fortunately, luck was on our side as we managed to avoid rain.

The narrative unfolds with Bride and Groom preparations at Hotel Monaco, a picturesque First Look at the 18th Century Garden, and a joyous reception at The Downtown Club by Cescaphe. Tune in for an insightful and entertaining recap of this extraordinary wedding day.

This weekend it poured on Friday and Saturday, and our wedding was on Sunday. It was a beautiful day. I shot their rehearsal/welcome dinner the night before and got to know them a little bit, which definitely makes it nice on the wedding day because not only had I met the Bride and Groom, I had met their closest friends and family. Our biggest challenge is a very dark dance floor and the groom doesn't want to get dressed until the last minute. 

The Bride keeps saying, "we've both been married before, this is just a second wedding", and then put on one of the most beautiful weddings I've been to. All the family members were excited for them and it was a great day.
