Omar adalah teman baikku, dia sudah menyukai musik dari bangku SD sampai sekarang sudah mempunyai band sendiri bernama Atsea. Gak pernah di dalam pikirannya bahwa dia akan punya band sebesar Atsea sekarang, di mulai dari bibit menonton School of Rock menjadi realita seorang musisi saat dia mulai kuliah di luar negeri.  Terinspirasi dari band Wild Nothing untuk menjadi musisi dengan budget recording yang cukup rendah, di mulai dari merekam dengan hp, belajar dari studio buatan temannya, sampai akhirnya dia menemukan cara dan teknik recording dia sendiri. Dan sekarang dengan bangga dia adalah bagian dari Kolibri Records dan sudah manggung di Kanada dan Indonesia. Ini membuktikkan dengan kreatifitas, kepercayaan diri, dan cita - cita kita bisa melakukan hal yang kita kira kita tidak bisa lakukan. 

Di episode conquering early 20s kali ini aku mengundang Gregi Tampubolon. Dia adalah seorang pengusaha dan juga pekerja full time, disini aku membahas bagaimana dia mengelola bisnisnya selama ini, karena dia mengelola beberapa bisnis tidak hanya satu. Perbincangan kita kali ini di A Slice of Her di temani oleh Ellen Nio, dia peraih Forbes 30 under 30 dan perempuan yang memimpin program di Patamar Capital bernama Investing in Women. Di episode kali ini, aku belajar tentang seberapa pentingnya investasi untuk founder - founder perempuan, mengapa ada sedikit sekali founder perempuan di Indonesia, gender bias di dunia bisnis, dan gender lens analysis atau gender lens investing. Selain itu Ellen juga memberikan cerita yang sangat powerful, yaitu saran yang dia dapati dari Joy Anderson tentang setting up the tables. "It is very important to be the person who set up the tables, there are a lot of people who wants to sit at the table, but very less people who are willing to set up the tables", membicarakan tentang mengembangkan kredensial kita dan oportunitas yang kita harus ambil mau apapun latar belakang kita, karena kita bisa belajar dan dapatkan ilmu dimana saja, dan itu yang Ellen lakukan, dari latar belakang ilmu komputer menjadi seorang ahli finansial investasi dan sekarang juga memimpin komunitas perempuan di bidang venture capitals. 

In this third episode of A Slice of her, I'm welcoming Vice's journalist Alia Marsha. She is working on a project with Vice and other platforms to talk about sexual assault cases that happened in campuses around Indonesia. After Agni's (UGM rape case), has surfaced and the campus did no justice for the victim, Vice, Tirto, and Jakpost rally together to fight this horrific condition to help other young women to share their story and demand government of some legislation that can bound these institutions to the right law against harassment and sexual assault within campus grounds. As Alia said, this condition is just very sad, students should feel protected and safe not oppressed or harassed into getting good grades or even assaulted by their peers. 

On this second episode of A Slice of Her, I chatted with Girls Can Lead founder Rachael Abigail. We talked about why there are so less numbers of female leaders, not only in politics but generally in any institutions from business owners, start up tech founder, even in Indonesia's list of wealthiest people there was only one woman, so we questioned this condition. Why does this happen? That's why Abigail tried to educate and strengthen young girls to be leaders in their community. 

Yes! You read it right, in honour of Women's International Day we are welcoming March with female empowerment theme. I'll be inviting 4 incredible young women to share their journey, their concern, and hopes and dreams for girls, mothers, daughters, females in Indonesia, starting this episode strong by welcoming Nadhila Chairannisa. Nadhila is running for legislative candidate for DPR RI at a mere age of 24 years old. What started as a dinner conversation with her dad turns into a burning passion to serve her country, she believes in the transformation of Indonesia's current education system and equal right, treatments, and protection for women and children. This episode has been so eye opening, I cannot help to gasp on every detail that she shared as we converse, on why there were so less number of women in DPR, how people currently treating women in politics, and how important women's role in politics and their voice to make laws for domestic and sexual abuse in Indonesia. She said that, our condition right now towards women are very apprehensive, but we are making progress, we need to stay positive, and remember to always spread positivity 

This latest episode of A Slice of Vai I talked to my very good friend Ines, our long lost friendship rekindled when we both finish college and I was in awe with her and what she does. Ines studied environmental engineering and that took path for her to work at an environmental advocacy NGO. As we converse I was really keen on what made her travel around east Indonesia so often? What does she think of the no plastic straw movement? Does it give any affects? What is happening to Indonesia's rich ecosystem? And not to mentioned her concerned and challenges she faced daily working on such field.

Putri or Puput short is the founder of HerDreams.ID an NGO that focuses on enriching young girls to have big dreams. Her journey was far from building HerDreams but she knows that one of her goals was to educate and giving an impact to her society. Her stories was so inspiring, yet it saddens me that most young girls in Indonesia doesn’t know how to dream and even scared to dream, thats why this movement was so important and close to Putri’s heart.
