In this episode, Brian and Rian talk about:

Composition, Body Mapping, and Skin Tone. While it may be difficult to discuss layouts and how the body works with an image, Brian and Rian take a few minutes to discuss the oftentimes overlooked skill of body mapping. They also talk about composition and how it can make the application of tattoos easier... if you get the gist of how the body works first.

In this longer-format episode, Brian and Rian talk about:

• Rian is working through some things connected to apprenticeships.
• Brian describes and defines a lot of art stuff.

Becoming an apprentice, or hiring one, is a big deal! Rian has been working out the final touches on a book about the philosophy of apprenticeships and takes a stab at connecting a few ideas into what is good or right when entering the tattoo world.

After that, Brian breaks down a more recent painting. He also discusses loosely approaching the rule of thirds in tattoo design and application.

In this longer-format episode, Brian and Rian talk about:

• How best to go about the search for a tattoo artist?
• Becoming invested in a design.

It's important to take the time to find an artist you enjoy, get along with, and can communicate well with. Brian breaks down the best ways a client can get into the tattoo mood by interviewing artists. After that, we talk a bit more about how being a tattoo artist relies on personal investment in the design rather than wanting to make a couple of bucks or look cool.
