EP 020 - Day 4 of Passion week - it is transitioning into Wednesday AD33 and Jesus makes His prediction that in two days He will be crucified on Passover week. The chief priests and scribes are creating a plan to deceitfully take Jesus and kill Him without any public uproar. To make much of His apprehension and murder would cause a stir not only among the people but also among the Romans - which was not desirable in any way! So they must do it in secret, but how?
Jesus is prepared by a woman in Simon’s home at Bethany, and one of His own disciples makes his way to Jerusalem. Judas. The religious elite will find their man after all. Listen in as we discuss Mark 14:1-11 on Wednesday AD 33 of passion week! #Easter2024 #PassionWeek #Tuesday #AD33 #Betrayal

Listen in as we discuss Mark 13:32-37 on Tuesday AD 33 of passion week! #Easter2024 #PassionWeek #Tuesday #AD33

Jesus asks His disciples a very essential question, but first He asks one that provides a great contrast and sets up the essential question - “Who do people say that I am?” And then - “But who do you say that I am?” At the end of the day, Jesus addresses each one of us the same! It does not matter what others say of Jesus, rather we must all individually answer this question ourselves. “Who is Jesus to you?” Listen in today to part 1!

Do we live beyond the grave? Perhaps you believe that your soul does not exist after death - and as Jeff Foxworthy could say, “You might be a Sadducee if…” In A Text for Today, Pastor Rob looks at Matthew 22:23-33 where Jesus was confronted with a group known as the Sadducees, a religious group in His time that believed in the Torah (1st five books of O.T.) and denied the prophets (Rest of O.T.). Even more, they denied that life existed after death. Jesus would have none of it! Listen in as we see today that Life for those in Christ does exist after death and it is all rooted in the fact that “God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” (Matthew 22:32)

Today we look at a text in the book of Numbers and see how God’s awesome grace provides a way into His presence! In their recent departure from Egypt, the forming nation of Israel is now being putting together as an organizational system that would help set the tone for years to come, not only in the organization of the armies of Israel, or the recent tabernacle layout but also in the strict Levitical requirements of worship and sacrifice! The census was developed and everything was being organized, but it would all point to one number alone - Jesus. Listen in today as we look at how the finished work of Christ alone provides no need for a “reminder of sins every year.” Only 1 number matters and it is a person - Jesus!

Jesus asked the religious elite around Him what they thought about a parable that He shared. What a masterful thing to do after providing no answer to their fault-finding question in the previous text! Jesus addresses their heart as He shows that they might appear like they are following their father's commands but they are in truth disobedient and prideful lost men who may never enter the kingdom of God! In this episode, Pastor Rob dives into Matthew 21 and takes a closer look at two sons who respond differently to God’s command - one in pride and the other in humility. What is the difference between heart service and lip service? In a text for Today, Pastor Rob dives into Matthew 15 and briefly discusses a band of scribes and Pharisees who come to Jesus and have a fault to find - Jesus’ disciples didn’t wash their hands before they ate! What a tragedy! At least it was for them. In this text for today, Jesus addresses their real issue of transgressing the commandments of God by keeping their man-made traditions. Listen in with us today as we briefly see the need for heart service over lip service, which first comes from the inner transforming work of the Spirit of God, and not by ceremonial man-made rituals. #ATextforToday #Podcast
