In this piyyut said whenever selichot are recited we ask G-d to answer our prayers just as he
answered the prayers of our Biblical ancestors from Avraham to Mordechai and Esther.
Fascinatingly, for many of those mentioned there is no indication in the text that they actually
prayed.

מִי שֶׁעָנָה לְאַבְרָהָם אָבִֽינוּ בְּהַר הַמּוֹרִיָּה הוּא יַעֲנֵֽנוּ:
