So it is with “privilege” by which I mean our capacities and resources, be they physical, emotional, spiritual, personal or economic. We often take these as “givens” without even thinking.

History's purpose, I gleaned from great historians, is to keep us focused on the present as citizens by learning about the historical figures and situations of our collective and interlocking pasts. Daniel Patrick Moynihan: You are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts.
