Song Of The Week: Leap (Sgt Slick’s Discotizer remix) by the one and only Billy Porter. This song (and remix) was made for the gayest dancefloors. It’s got that retro Earth Wind & Fire feel to it, and you can’t stop moving to it. Tell me you don’t!

That’s your lot ….. now sashay away …

Song Of The Week: Your World by PEPTALK. Catchy indie pop from a trio of from Inner West Sydney. Great voices, a catchy song , rainbow content, and a quirky arrangement. Very easy listening. As per the BIO “PEPTALK are your wholesome friends giving unsolicited advice. Self-aware and self-produced, the band of songwriters host a fresh perspective on relationships and self-reflection”. Just lovely.

Single Of The Week : ‘Somewhere’ by HOLLWAY “Formerly a resident DJ at Heaven, HOLLWAY has since toured the world playing other peoples’ music. For the past decade, he’s been tucked away in a remote Australian rainforest producing fast and fluffy, vocal dance music….He still can’t dance properly.” Catchy tune and such an amazing voice and uplifting vocals. And you can dance to it. Properly or not! Do your best Elaine dance to it.

Song Of The Week: ‘Lonely Dancers by the Blitz Kids ft Ross Alexander. This is a cover of the Conan Grey recent hit. I’d never heard of it, but I love this version. One reviewer compared it to the Erasure style, but I find more of a similarity to Men Without Hats ‘Safety Dance’. But who cares? I could dance round the kitchen to this forever.

Song Of The Week: “Aftertaste” by Katie Gavin. Last week my song of the week was a ballad, and this week it is ….. another ballad. Katie Gavin from the all-girl trio MUNA has embarked on a solo project with the album What A Relief due 25/10/2024. Another beautiful voice and a beautiful song with a slight country tinge.

Song Of The Week: “Refuge” by Simone Spittle. Love this track, a beautiful ballad, the voice of an angel. She’s a Naarm based queer artist, and this is the first track from her forthcoming album, Drama Queen, due out September 4th. As per he website  “I‘ve written a deeply personal yet relatable album, unfolding like diary entries of my experiences healing from childhood trauma, loving in many forms, owning my story, living in a larger body and having the audacity to live a life of joy!” Could she be any more wonderful?

Songs Of The Week: Naked In Manhattan by Chappell Roan. Wonderful song about young love from an LA artist. It’s from the 2023 album The Ride & Fall Of A Midwest Princess, a very varied selection of songs, full of the joys of life, but sounds to me a lot more authentic than some of the manufactured artists around now. Try it, you may like it!

Songs Of The Week: Two more anthems this week. Love them both. Both railing against all the violence in the world. No More by Greg Gould and Pride (in the name of love) by Dave Aude and guests. Can music change the world? I don’t know, but there are many musicians out there trying, and, in my opinion, they are worth supporting.

That’s your lot ….. now sashay away …
