Just got the DVD for the 3rd and final series of Future Man, a truly bizarre space comedy. Have only watched one episode so far, because I want to savour each episode. And it’s pretty good so far.

Song Of The Week : Ross Alexander’s new single, I Love My Radio, a cover of the Taffy dance hit from 1985. And if you’re not dancing around crazily to the Matt Pop edit right now, then you weren’t dancing to this in some sleazy Melbourne disco in the 80’s. Ah, sweet memories. A fabulous song then and a stunning remake by two of the best in the business, singer producer Ross Alexander, and producer remixer extraordinaire Matt Pop. Words fail me, just shivers up my backbone.

Song Of The Week : Tender, the new single by Tom Aspaul from his newly released CD Black Country Disco. Queer album of the year? possibly, and the songs are all pretty good, but Tender is the standout for me, after a few plays in gets under your skin. And he seems to be a really nice guy. We’re currently watching series 3 of Babylon Berlin (available to stream, DVD). Set in 1929, and a police investigation on a movie set, this series recreates a wonderful era in the life and nightlife of Berlin. The sets are wonderful, and the music brilliant, some provided by Bryan Ferry (in his jazz stylee).

Song Of The Week : I love the new David Guetta / Sia song Let’s love, especially there words. Written and recorded in Ibiza, David Guetta has asked fans to share what they do to stay positive. “So take my hand, don’t be afraid/This too shall pass/This too shall pass, and we’ll get through it all together/We’ll get through it all together … Let’s love.” Lovely, eh? We need more positivity, wherever possible.

Song Of The Week: Legends Never Die from Orville Peck with Shania Twain. Magnificent alt country track, with the very fabulous Shania (Man, I Feel Like A Woman) Twain. They are both excellent, and this is a rousing real country-style anthem. If this doesn’t bring them to the top of the country charts at least, well, it probably won’t, but it is such a great song, and a wonderful performance on the video, they really look like they having such fun.

This week we’re watching a new series on ABC Comedy called Trigonometry. It centres on Gemma, a cafe owner, and her paramedic boyfriend Kieran. To make ends meet they take on a female lodger. In the first episode we find out that Gemma is bisexual, and the looks between Gemma and Kieran re the new lodger make you wonder what is coming next. This is a quality British drama and the future is very promising. Recommended, so far.

Hands up who hasn’t seen Beyonce’s Black Is King extended (to 90 minutes) video? It’s the visual component of her new album, and it’s an exhausting trip around the world in 60+ costume changes, full of images of female empowerment, nurturing male masculinity, and reclaiming one’s African roots.

The costumes are stunning, the scenery spectacular, the songs pretty average for Beyonce, but it’s an interesting diversion, and did I mention the costumes?
