A Transforming Word

Can you be described as a man of integrity? Would someone say you’re a woman who keeps her word? Honesty and trustworthiness aren’t just about what we say but about actually doing what we say. Today, Pastor Bill teaches that whenever you’ve committed to something, you should keep that commitment, whether it’s something you promised your spouse you’d do or if you promised God you’d give a certain amount. Today, let your words have meaning. Let your promises be reliable and true.

When we talk about working really hard to do something, especially competing in a sport, we often reference giving it 110% or giving it our all. These expressions get the point across, but can we even give our all? Today, Pastor Bill teaches that this is exactly what Jesus asked for, yet many times, we hardly even give Him half. Whenever He asks you to drop it all and follow Him, will you be willing to do just that? Are you truly willing to give it all? Or will you be bound to your comfort zone?

There’s a misconception that to be generous, a person has to be wealthy. When people think of generosity, they think of great philanthropists like Oprah Winfrey giving away cars or Mr. Beast giving away millions of dollars. Today, Pastor Bill teaches that true generosity doesn’t come from the number of commas but rather from the heart. So, it doesn’t matter if you’re a Fortune 500 CEO or fortunate enough to have five hundred to your name… whenever you give, give sacrificially with a grateful heart.

Everything you have is a gift: the car you drive, the clothes on your back, your spouse, your parents, the food in the fridge… everything. Sure, you may have done the work to keep bacon stocked, but even your ability to work is a gift. Today, Pastor Bill teaches that, while God has blessed you with many great things, Jesus brings the greatest gift of all. He brings a gift that can’t be taken away. He brings love, grace, mercy, and ultimately, salvation from a world that wants to tear you apart.

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” This lie is proven false daily. How often have you been hurt by someone’s words? The words you speak have incredible power. In today’s message, Pastor Bill teaches that you can use that power in one of two ways… You can build someone up, or you can break them down. Only one of those actions looks like Jesus. Each time you open your mouth and speak someone’s name, let the following sentence be edifying and life-giving.

Do you know what the definition of insanity is? Many agree that “insanity” is “repeatedly performing the same action, while expecting a different result to occur.” That’s why, when you think about it, it’s insane to think you can save yourself from sin. Today, Pastor Bill teaches that when you “quit” the same sin every couple of months, it’s not that shocking when you return. However, when you instead give that sin over to God in an act of repentance, that’s when your heart will really begin to change.

Have you ever walked into a conversation right as someone was talking about you? If so, hopefully, they were sharing something good instead of spreading rumors! Our lives must reflect our changed hearts and what God has done for us and through us!
