No believer is in a place to look down on a sinner. Every single one of us came from that same place and there’s nothing we’ve done that we can boast about. It’s all Christ. He’s made the change in us, and He wants to make the same change in every lost soul. As Pastor Bill will challenge us in today’s message, we need to look at others with the grace we’ve been given. Even if you know a person’s living a lifestyle that goes directly against God - He died for them, and they have amazing potential in Him.

When the truth contradicts your choices or lifestyle, it can feel very offensive. No one likes being told they’re wrong, but when you’re choosing to live in destructive sin, you need to hear the truth. As Pastor Bill will explain in today’s message, far too many Christians, and even entire Churches and denominations are opting to omit or alter the truth of Scripture to avoid offending anyone. Scripture tells us, as believers, that the world should know us by our love. Our unity, in spite of our differences and disagreements, should stand out as counter-cultural. Yet, all too often, the church brings negative attention to itself because of its petty arguments. It should be done in a way that honors Him and draw us closer, instead of dividing and driving us further apart.

If you’ve accepted Christ’s gift of salvation, that change of heart should be reflected in your actions and attitudes. If it’s not, your fellow believers need to come along side of you and help guide you into a life that glorifies our Savior. The members of the Church are a work in progress. We’re actively being perfected by the refinement of the Holy Spirit – but we have a long way to go. Sadly, many lost people come into the Church or observe it from outside and they’ve got a knack for spotting any hint of hypocrisy. As Pastor Bill will warn in today’s message, we can’t expect absolute perfection of any human. At the same time, within the Church, we need to hold each other accountable and be transparent about our own weaknesses.

The way we deal with fellow believers should be different than the way we deal with those who haven’t yet accepted Christ. As Pastor Bill will remind us in today’s message, those who have accepted Christ are held to a different standard than those who haven’t. It’s not that we should embrace immorality and sin in the lost – being made aware of our sinfulness is a necessary step in coming to Christ – but the Gospel of grace should be the focus when we interact with those people.
