Avichi Meiyappa Chettiar (28 July 1907 – 12 August 1979), also known as A. V. Meiyappan or AVM, was an Indian film producer, director and philanthropist who established AVM Studios. He is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of South Indian cinema , especially Tamil Cinema. His production company AVM Productions (earlier stages with other names) is the only production company in South India to run successfully for almost 80 years by producing around 175 Movies in 5 languages.
