Episode #26: My So Called Life "Halloween" Original Release Date: October 19, 2015

The definitive one season wonder, My So-Called Life, debuted in 1994 to high praises but mediocre ratings; but not even one of the world's first online campaign could save the show. Legend had it that Claire Danes no longer wanted to be part of the show, fueling teenage angst everywhere, but it was revealed in a 2004 interview that she was just an awkward teen with no real pull to cancel the series. Thankfully, MTV re-aired the series for the better half of a decade exposing a whole new audience to the show.

Anyway, in this episode Patrick and Kat discuss their only Halloween episode, appropriately titled "Halloween." This is the one where the whole gang, sans Jordan and Ricky, break into the school to conduct a seance. I guess when your sixteen, bored, and angsty, there just isn't that much to do on Halloween night?

You can watch this episode of My So-Called Life in its entirety at Hulu.

Episode #25: Halloween is Grinch Night Original Release Date: October 11, 2015

The whimsical world of Dr. Seuss has its dark corners and one of those is Halloween is Grinch Night, the prequel to the beloved How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This time around, The Grinch's plot is to not rob the citizens of Whoville of the spirit of Halloween, but rather drug them with the contents of his paraphernelia wagon and send the Whos on one bad acid trip; peace, love, and music this is not. Luckily, a young bespectacled Who named Eucharia takes a blast of hallucinogens for the team and reverses his bad trip as a weapon against The Grinch and sends him running back up to his Grinch-Cave high up in the mountains.

Episode #24: The 'Burbs Original Release Date: October 4th, 2015

Hello neighbors! Welcome to another installment of A Very Special Podcast! This week Patrick and Kat head back to the magical year of 1989 and watched the cinematic classic The 'Burbs. This is the one where Tom Hanks and his rag-tag team of neighbors begin to suspect their kooky neighbors are up to something sinister.

Fair warning, this episode is almost three hours long and recorded months ago. There's tons of side banter and things that Patrick said he will "probably cut out in post production." We didn't, though. So enjoy and pour yourself a drink (or twelve) and blackout with us if you have the time or a long flight!

Episode #23: Full House - "Stephanie's Wild Ride″ Original Release Date: September 28, 2015

Full House needs no introduction, unless you were one of those children who grew up reading books; but even then there are at least 100 licensed books that pre-teens in the early 1990s would have come across in those monthly Scholastic Reading Club flyers that teachers handed out like they were prescription pills. Danny Tanner was a widower with OCD and he enlisted the help of his weird best friend and studly brother-in-law; and together they all raised three beautiful young children, a golden retriever, a neighbor with smelly feet, a woodchuck puppet, and two other sets of children (Nicky and Alex).

Stephanie was always the spunky middle child, but somewhere along the mix she grew a wild side; no thanks to her cigarette smoking friend, Gia. Anyway, in this episode of A Very Special Podcast, Stephanie and Gia meet some cute boys at the mall and pretend they are a few years older so they can go joy riding with them. Sounds fun, huh? Well, guess what? There's a lesson to be learned.

You can purchase this episode of Full House for $1.99 at Amazon.

Episode #22: I Dream of Jeannie - "Jeannie's Beauty Cream″ Original Release Date: September 20, 2015

[download the mp3]

After being highly jealous of ABC's Bewitched, CBS commissioned producer Sidney Sheldon to concoct up his own mystical enchantress; and thus I Dream of Jeannie was born. When astronaut Tony Nelson is marooned on a deserted island in the South Pacific, he comes across a curious bottle which happens to be the home of a very sexy Persian-speaking and harem costume wearing female genie; ironically named Jeannie. Eventually Tony is rescued from the island and Jeannie accompanies him back to the mainland, where week-after-week they continuously find themselves mixed up in magical misadventures.

For this episode of A Very Special Podcast, Patrick and Kat chose a late-in-the-series run, "Jeannie's Beauty Cream", which is the one where Jeannie whips up some magic mojo to transform Amanda Bellows from some aging hag into some foxy bombshell; naturally (thanks to magic), shenanigans ensue.

Episode #21: Small Wonder - "The Shoplifter″ Original Release Date: September 13, 2015

In the 1980s, it seemed like every family in the cul-de-sac had their fare share of secrets; and the Lawson family was no different than the Joneses. Ted Lawson, the patriarch and super intelligent engineer/inventor, whips himself up a Voice Input Child Identicant; or Vicky the Robot for us layman. Ted Lawson's mission? Well, he plans on to use these androids to assist handicapped children all over the world, but first wants to test it out in his own household.

Ted passes Vicky the Robot off as an orphaned child and pairs him up with Jamie, his overly flamboyant pre-teen son whose never-ending arsenal of bad writer's room jokes barely gets a smirk from Vicky. Too bad Ted didn't program Vicky with a database of Johnny Carson zingers instead of resting bitch face mode.

Anyway, in this episode of A Very Special Podcast, Patrick and Kat discuss "The Shoplifter" episode from season two. This is the one where Vicky the Robot decides to steal an expensive watch from a department store the same day a social worker from the Department of Social Services decides to swing by the house.

Plus, Patrick and Kat argue over the correct pronunciation of robot (row-bit vs row-bot) and Patrick suspects that if Ted Lawson's V.I.C.I. project is a success, it's only a matter of time before he is building an army of sex-bots or something more nefarious.

Episode #20: The Munsters Today - "Vampire Pie″ Original Release Date: September 6, 2015

When The Munsters disappeared from Mockingbird Heights in the mid-60s, the residents of the small tight-knit community had quickly forgotten about the oddly shaped family who occupied the terrifying eyesore at 1313 Mockingbird Lane. Unbeknownst to the townsfolk, Grandpa Munster unwittingly trapped his entire family into a sleep machine where they remained in suspended animation for twenty-two years, until a greedy land developer stumbled upon the sleeping beauties and released them into the brave new world of 1988. Which brings us to right where this episode of A Very Special Podcast picks up!

In this episode of the podcast, Patrick and Kat take a stab at unnecessary sequels and watch The Munsters Today episode "Vampire Pie." This is the one where Herman tries to become domesticated and bakes himself a pie that has dire consequences on mortals. Patrick also ponders the sexual reproduction system of the Munster family. How can a Frankenstein Monster and a Vampire give birth to a werewolf? And how does the seemingly normal Marilyn fit into all of this?
