Is there a goalie controversy brewing in Philadelphia? Since making his NHL debut, Samuel Ersson has proven that maybe he belongs in the National Hockey League. Big thing people need to remember is he has just a small sample size to judge how well he has played early on. The young fifth-rounder has posted a 4-0 record in five games, including pitching a shutout vs. the Buffalo Sabres Monday night. He also has posted a 2.30 GAA and .924 SV% in those five games. There is no doubt since getting crushed by the Carolina Hurricanes in his NHL Debut, Ersson has gotten stronger between the pipes. There is also a lot of doubt surrounding Carter Hart now with the emergence of Sam Ersson. A lot of media personnel and fans believe Hart is not the answer. Could they be right? Possibly. We do have a bigger sample size for Hart, who has played 175 NHL games. With the game the other night against the Maple Leafs, as ugly as it was, you can't put it all on his shoulders. The defense and PP did him no favors, as Tony DeAngelo was benched since the second period, and the PP went 0 for 4. Hart has posted solid numbers this season with an 11-12-6 record, 2.97 GAA and .908 SV%.The Philadelphia Flyers have been playing on a positive note, winning five of their last six games. In that span, they have beaten the likes of San Jose Sharks 4-3, Los Angeles Kings 4-2,Anaheim Ducks 4-1, Arizona Coyotes 6-2, and Buffalo Sabres 4-0. The loss came against the Toronto Maple Leafs, 6-2. As stated briefly, that was an ugly team loss where nothing went rightfor the boys in Orange and Black. However, they rebounded in a big way against the Buffalo Sabres Monday night. Tune in Tuesday night to get the recap of that game.
