AA Cafe Podcast

Recorded during our trip to Colombia June 16-23. This is the longest podcast I'll ever post. I promise. It's an hour and a half, and the first part we recorded has poor quality due to the echo of the room and the ambient noise of vehicles and rain. But if you have trouble sleeping, the rain soundtrack with the droll of our voices should do the trick. It seems like Isaiah and I told every damn detail of our trip, but that isn't the case. It just seems like it. So if you want to hear all about it, here it is. Pretty much unedited. I hope you find it interesting and educational.

Garth! My country music compadre. Garth and Brian go old-school on AA Cafe to bring back Coffee News. This podcast is ridiculous. From steak to coffee to whisky to bike racing to latte art comps to women... We're all over the place. We should've talked about coffee.

Jason and I finally got around to podcasting about our trip to Colombia. It's a long podcast, and I'm sorry. I felt like we recorded half of a portafilter podcast or something. Many thanks to the good people at La Minita- Drew, Russ, Fernando, Jim, and lots of others. And to Kike and Vivian from Empresas de Narino (and Antioquia). I know, I know. It's been a while.
We apologize. A lot has been going on around the DoubleShot lately. This is a podcast Isaiah and I recorded while in Portland, Oregon. Isaiah was competing in the US Barista Championship. We even include interviews with the former hosts of the late Portafilter podcast: Nick Cho and Jay Caragay. We promise to record more often.

Isaiah and I try our best to catch up on the last few weeks in a short amount of time. We talk about the South Central Regional Barista Competition in Austin. We talk about coffee that is "too fresh" and listen to snippets from Michael Sivetz speech at the SCAA, "Stale Coffees Are Not Specialty Coffees." Isaiah is quoted in (Too?) Fresh Cup Magazine concerning latte art. And we touch on our new coffees- Aricha 10 and Beloya 12, our upcoming trip to Colombia, and Ferraris' film "The Perfect Cappuccino" coming to Tulsa.

Isaiah and I talk about the past few weeks: DoubleShot Latte Art Comp, Seattle, CoffeeFest, Victrola, and Ferraris' film in Kansas City. Isaiah requested that I play some 80's Christian Rock, so I couldn't resist digging for some of the old jr. high favorite lipsync tunes. Oh, and our podcast wouldn't be complete without... Mark Prince.

This podcast ain't about coffee. I recorded another jogcast during the Leadville Trail 100. This is the audio from the race and a little post-race commentary. Rough.
