  • We might be talking about our trauma, we might not with Taylor
Taylor is someone I met in person at an adoptee event. She grew up in NYC and decided to move away for a bit of time when going to college. This conversation shows how small and connected communities really can be. Especially toward the end of the conversation, do we focus in on the essence of living life. Also, we as humans enjoy listening and relating to one another. Average and relatable :) Follow Taylor @babyt131313.

  • We are all going to die together with Adi
Note: Explicit language and content and laughter for a good portion
The comedy duo-- From Adilooloo and Tarafoofoo, this week's episode is another personal one for me! There are people who come and go and others who stick around (and this one is a long episode 90 min!). Adi and I met and became roommates for three years in Maryland. He is now in Indiana pursuing a Phd and I thought it would be great to record and share some of the wisdom from conversations we have had/ currently having. Amongst the jokes and goofiness, there is a wonderful perspective and true honesty shared. I realized speaking with Adi here too that we are truly a result of the experiences which form our perspectives and differences in opinions. Also, a nice special appearance from my current roommate.

  • If you network correctly, you do not have to be nice either with Danny
The Shape of a Star Podcast is coming to a streaming service near you. But before Danny releases his show for all to hear, he is stepping in the interviewee spot on podcasts like this one. Danny is an adoptee from Hong Kong who knows his birth family and has a younger sister adopted from China. Danny shares his journey from highschool color guard to becoming a school counselor who also believes in transparency. This episode and content definitely is more sassy than the usual ones inclusive of some accent/ voice changes. This time I ask a spin off question on what you do not want to hear from other adoptees. Check out @theshapeofastarpodcast and @lodestarslagoon.

  • She could actually pick me out from that picture with Myla
A wonderful part of being able to speak with one another is finding some aspects of each others stories that we can relate to or simply just learn. Myla was left with a note with her birthday and also has been back to where she is from, Guangxi. Myla is now in Oregon and going to Washington state for an internship. Myla also shares about her adoption as a child but always had an understanding and connection. Follow Myla @myla_li and her art page @myla_makesart.

  • Yea that’s a whole different ball game with Rachel
Rachel is an adoptee who came to NYC for college and decided to stay. I noticed Rachel’s posts about positivity on instagram and finally reached out to her to discuss more about her story! She also happens to be a New Yorker too. This is an episode where you get two people who are very comfortable expressing and talking about sexuality and admitting how hard it is to stick with a hobby. We also admit how it is easier to share online without having to see anyone in person because of covid. Follow Rachel @babygotslack on instagram.
