Axis for Autism provides Arizona children, adolescents, and adults with the highest-quality autism evaluations. They’ve built Arizona’s most extensive diagnostic system with a deep bench of doctorate-level psychologists, allowing them to serve hundreds of patients monthly. Their highly trained clinical team uses multiple, scientifically validated diagnostic tools and extensive QA protocols to deliver gold-standard evaluations, including ADOS.
Axis for Autism’s deep bench of licensed doctorate-level psychologists has extensive backgrounds in child development and neurodevelopmental disorders. With each one specializing in a different stage of life — preschool children, adolescents, and adults — they can see hundreds of patients a month and support them throughout their entire lives.
What to expect
Initial Free Screening: An introductory call with an Axis for Autism staff member will help determine whether your child or loved one is a candidate for evaluation. (Schedule an introductory call.)

Background: You will be asked to complete paperwork, including a thorough history of your child, in advance of the evaluation.

Assessment: On evaluation day, your child or loved one will spend 45-90 minutes with a highly trained specialist who will tailor the assessment to each individual’s needs. It will be recorded. For children, this assessment typically consists of semi-structured play-based activities, observations, and interviews. Most report it’s a fun experience. After the evaluation, you will schedule telehealth with a psychologist.

Follow-Up & Diagnosis: After consideration of all testing data and other patient information, you will meet with the psychologist to discuss the results and whether an autism diagnosis is appropriate. A virtual visit cuts down the wait time to connect with your psychologist while also saving you another drive to the office.

Report: You will receive a written report and recommendations including formal documentation of the diagnosis, along with guidance and local resources for interventions and therapies.

From the Administration for Community Living (ACL):
Protection and Advocacy Systems (P&As) work at the state level to protect individuals with disabilities by empowering them and advocating on their behalf. There are 57 P&As in the U.S. and its territories. Each operates independently and may partner with agencies that provide other services.
Along with the other AoD grantees, P&As are dedicated to the ongoing fight for the personal and civil rights of individuals with disabilities. P&As provide legal support to traditionally unserved or underserved populations to help them navigate the legal system to achieve resolution and encourage systems change. P&As ensure that individuals with disabilities are able to exercise their rights to make choices, contribute to society, and live independently.
P&As have the legal authority to:
Investigate suspected abuse or neglect and seek justice for victims and their families.

Have access to records and facilities necessary to investigate abuse or neglect or to monitor the treatment and safety of residents.

Pursue litigation and all other appropriate remedies under federal, state, and local law.

Provide information and referrals regarding entitlements to services and other legal rights.

Educate policymakers on needed reforms to disability-related laws and services.
