Kirt's books are used by Neiman Marcus, BancorpSouth, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, and many others. These books are crash courses - concise, quick, and easy to read to help you generate immediate results.
Kirt's books have won 11 awards, including the coveted Teachers' Choice Awards, and the prestigious Mom's Choice Gold Awards. Kirt spent nine months meeting with teens for his award-winning book on job skills and social skills for teens,
"Smile & Succeed for Teens: A Crash Course in Face-to-Face Communication". Get the book here https://www.amazon.com/dp/0985076216?tag=specialneed0b-20&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1
These skills work well for anyone, regardless of their disability. It's not simply "make more eye contact". It's amazing the impact saying "please" and "thank you" can have. I have witnessed this with my own son. We taught him to be polite when he was young, and it has paid dividends. He's not "social" by anyone's definition.
One of the places he "volunteered" while in school was willing to hire him because he was "pleasant to work with". Again, he was most certainly NOT making small talk or "hanging out"; and he struggles with making eye contact. His focus was doing what he was there to do. But he was polite and followed directions.
Temple Grandin stated, "Smile and Succeed for Teens is a fantastic resource to help teens be successful at work".
This is for anyone with a youth transitioning from High School - most States are, or are becoming, "employment first" - which means individuals with disabilities need to show they are seeking employment (or are unemployable) to receive benefits.
More information about Kirt, and his books, can be found on his website. If you're a teacher or school administrator, he has released a course that can be found here.
