Today we continue a series in Second Corinthians. In First Peter 4:12 we read “Beloved do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings.” We’re to expect suffering as we go through life, and as we’ll discover today God wants to be our comforter through it all.

The life of a Christian is sure exciting! But that doesn’t mean there won’t be suffering. Even in the suffering God is faithful to provide comfort and to use the Christian’s experience to strengthen us and be a blessing to others. We’ve decided to present a mini-series on giving, as we’re in Second Corinthians chapters eight and nine, which is the emphasis of this section of Scripture. When it comes to giving God is more concerned with our heart than the amount. Remember the poor widow who gave two mites? Though that gift may not have caught the attention of people, it sure caught the Lord’s attention in a good way! So then what is the key to giving that pleases God? Pastor Ed suggests looking to Jesus as the supreme example.

Last time you may recall, we kicked off our study of Second Corinthians here on Abounding Grace. And today pastor Ed Taylor will spotlight the first two verses of the epistle, where we find a common greeting, with an important message. How do you deal with the imperfections of others? I think it’s safe to say all of us have been on the receiving end of an unfair accusation! It can be greatly discouraging and even make you feel like giving up the ministry God has called you to. The apostle Paul dealt with it as well, and as we begin a study of Second Corinthians today on a Abounding Grace, we’ll notice how he chose to deal with it.
