You can’t get too far in life before you realize there’s an enemy within. But then to hear there’s a way to change – really change. Wow, what a difference that would make! Imagine the possibilities. Today on Abounding Grace we’ll do just that. We’ve come in our study of Second Corinthians to chapter seven. It’s there we learn about the implications of the New Covenant and the potential to live a life with no regrets.

  • Understanding Spiritual Gifts Part 2a
Pastor Ed Taylor is in First Corinthians and we’re spending a considerable amount of time in chapter twelve due to its rich content. Maybe you’ve looked at this chapter, like many, as though it’s just a list of spiritual gifts. But pastor Ed believes these are actually manifestations of the spirit, and he’ll explain the difference as we go along.

  • Understanding Spiritual Gifts Part 1b
We’re just getting started in First Corinthians chapter twelve, and we plan on being here for quite some time as it really serves to help us understand spiritual gifts. The Corinthians were ignorant in this area, but we don’t have to be, if we’ll take the time to learn what God says about it in His Word.

  • Understanding Spiritual Gifts Part 1a
There were a lot of problems in the church in Corinth, and we’ve certainly noticed that in recent studies here on Abounding Grace. And today we’ll observe an ignorance, or lack of understanding, concerning spiritual gifts. The same is true today in many believers. And so pastor Ed Taylor is going to help us come to an understanding of how the Holy Spirit works in and through our lives. Beginning today, we’ll set out to gain a right understanding of Spiritual Gifts, with First Corinthians chapter twelve in view.

  • Communion with Jesus Part 2
Have you ever stopped to think for a moment about what life would be like if it weren’t for the sacrificial death of Jesus on the Cross? Life would be pointless, futile and empty. In fact that can pretty much sum up any life today that doesn’t include a relationship with Jesus. Today on Abounding Grace pastor Ed Taylor continues our verse by verse study of First Corinthians with a look at what communion is all about. The church in Corinth had lost sight of this, and let’s make sure we don’t do the same.

  • Communion with Jesus Part 1
We’re about to open First Corinthians chapter eleven. If your church is like ours, you gather for communion every so often. But why do we do that? Pastor Ed is about to show us the essence of communion is coming together and sharing the life of Jesus together. But the church at Corinth had lost sight of this, and some problems were occurring surrounding communion.

  • I Beg You to Listen to Me Part 1
God has called us to be separate from the world and live a life that reflects that we’ve been saved. We’re no longer to be living for ourselves, but rather for the Lord. But as we’ve been discovering lately, there are some very real worldly influences that we need to be aware of… and know how to navigate through and around them.

  • Women are Free to Serve Jesus Part 2
In your study of the Bible, have you ever encountered a verse or two that left you asking, “How in the world does that apply to us?” I think it’s safe to say First Corinthians eleven is one such place. Here the subject of head coverings comes up. There were some women in the church at Corinth who chose not to wear head coverings and this caused quite a stir. Here we are centuries later and obviously that’s not a cultural norm in America. So do we toss this passage out thinking it no longer applies? Actually pastor Ed Taylor says it has something very important to say to us.

  • Women are Free to Serve Jesus Part 1
The Jewish customs in the apostle Paul’s day were quite a bit different than what we find in today’s culture. For example, they couldn’t uncover their heads in public because it was dishonoring to their husband. While the specifics may be cultural, there are some lessons which are timeless. Pastor Ed Taylor will show us that it’s important to consider both context and culture, before applying God’s Word to our lives.
