  • The Rock that Shows the Way Part 2
Stress it’s something we all experience whether it’s due to job frustrations, problems at home, or even financial pressure that’s weighing on you. Today on Abounding Grace we find David under a great deal of pressure and stress as his very own life is being threatened. Through his experience, described in First Samuel 20, we’ll be encouraged to come back to the Rock that shows the way. And God will give us direction just when we need it.

  • The Rock that Shows the Way Part 1
Imagine having someone hot on your heels, trying to kill you. And they have a great deal power and backing too! That’s the place we find David- the future King of Israel- today on Abounding Grace. Talk about a stressful experience! And though our situations in life might not reach that level, we still experience pressure and stress. Pastor Ed Taylor has some words of wisdom from First Samuel 20 to share with us today, that we can apply to those stressful periods of life!

  • Don't Give Sin a Chance Part 2
I think most of us can look back on our lives and see the protective hand of God? Perhaps it was on the roadway, or at work, or maybe on the operating table?
Whether we see it or not, God protects His children and restrains evil. We’ll see a good example of that today on Abounding Grace as we open First Samuel chapter nineteen. If you’ll recall, Saul is envious of David and wants to kill him. But the Lord restrains Saul from harming David. Just as He protected David, He can protect you too.

  • Don't Give Sin a Chance Part 1
How do you respond when you see something great happen to someone you know? Let’s say you’re passed over for a promotion at work, and your coworker receives it instead? It’s about that time that jealousy so often invades our heart! Today on Abounding Grace we’ll notice Saul’s jealousy and anger, and it’s not a pretty sight. It actually provoked him to want to kill David! We continue to take you through First Samuel one verse at a time, and in chapter nineteen pastor Ed Taylor encourages us not to give sin a chance!

  • Stay Strong. Stay Pure. Stay Unified! Part 1
It sure is hard to resist the temptation to takes sides before hearing or understanding the other side. It’s a common problem and increasingly so in our divided culture. We need to be aware of this tendency and guard against it. And today’s Abounding Grace with pastor Ed Taylor will help us do so.

  • The Spear or the Harp Part 2
You can be sure, both inside and outside the church, we’ll have an occasional spear thrown in our direction. It may be in the form of a false accusation, an unkind word, or someone stabbing you in the back! But what’s the right response, should that happen to you? Today on Abounding Grace we’ll see what that is, as Saul throws a spear in David’s direction. David handled it extremely well. It will serve to help us deal with hurt in a Christ-like fashion.

  • The Spear or the Harp Part 1
Today on Abounding Grace pastor Ed Taylor will show us what God considers a true friend to be. Ed is about to continue his verse by verse study in the book of 1st Samuel and we’ll consider the value of godly friends. If asked to name one of the all time great friendships in the Bible, what names come to mind? I’d venture to say many of you would say Jonathan and David, and rightly so. Let’s take a closer look at these friends in 1 Samuel chapter eighteen.

  • David and Jonathan Were not Homosexuals Part 3
Think for a minute about where the church as a whole is at today, related to the sin of homosexuality. On one hand there are those that have gone so far as to say homosexuality is not a sin and completely acceptable. And then there are those that have shunned those that struggle with this sin, looking down on them. But today on Abounding Grace, we’ll attempt to lovingly point you in the direction of Christ and the hope there is in Him, no matter what sin you’re caught up in!

  • David and Jonathan Were not Homosexuals Part 2
Maybe you’re one of the many who are attracted to those of the same sex, and wonder if you were born this way. Is it a sin to get involved in a homosexual relationship? The world will tell you it’s fine and perfectly acceptable. Today on Abounding Grace we’ll take you to the Word for answers. After all, the Bible should guide our lives and behavior, not the culture.

  • David and Jonathan Were not Homosexuals Part 1
As we continue through First Samuel, we’re going to pause to address a very relevant issue, springing from First Samuel 18. Some have looked at David and Jonathan’s relationship and drawn the conclusion that they were homosexuals. And thus God approves of it. But is that a fair rendering of the text? Today pastor Ed Taylor will set out to answer that. Not based on his own feelings on the matter, or the cultural norms, but rather on the authoritative Word of God.
