Today pastor Ed Taylor brings us a message based on John chapter seventeen. This chapter is commonly referred to as the red letter prayer, because it consists entirely of the Lord’s prayer the night before He was arrested and crucified. We’re listening to the King pray, and gaining insight on prayer as we are.

Wouldn’t it be incredible to actually hear Jesus pray? You can and today we’ll do just that. The Lord is just a short time from the cross in John chapter 17, and he has just finished addressing his disciples. Now it’s time for a conversation with His Heavenly Father. Oh, what a joy it is to eavesdrop on this most glorious conversation!

We may fail to recognize it, but God very often is preparing us for what’s ahead. We’ll see this in the life of the disciples, shortly before Jesus would be leaving them and hung on a Roman cross. No doubt this was a confusing and painful time for them perhaps the same could be said of where you’re at today? We’re John chapter sixteen.

Pastor Ed Taylor will be in John chapter sixteen as well as James chapter one today. As Americans we want our food quick and easy. We grow impatient on the freeways during rush hour. And so we often look for shortcuts to save us precious time. But today we’ll discover there really are no shortcuts to spiritual maturity so we need to be patient, committed and content on the pathway to discipleship.
