Seems like every time you turn around, there’s a new scam popping up. And perhaps you’ve been a victim of that in recent years? There are also people, motivated by the enemy, roaming around that are out to rip us off spiritually too! But this should be no surprise, as Jesus said it would be this way. We’re about to see a vivid contrast our Lord gave between the good and the false shepherds from John chapter ten. We’ll also see what can protect us!

Whether it’s our children, our spouse, parents or even a good friend we can rather easily detect their voice. That’s because we’re familiar with it, having spent a lot of time with them. Today on Abounding Grace we’ll see that’s equally true of our relationship with God. If we’re truly followers of Christ, in the Word of God and spending time in prayer we’ll be able to spot the voice of God a mile away and be able to detect and reject the false shepherds too!

In Christ we are truly blessed beyond measure. It’s nice to know we don’t have to wander aimlessly through life, but we have the Good Shepherd to guide and take care of us. That’s a truth to cling to in troubling times like these. Today the plan is to cover the first few verses of John chapter ten. You might immediately recognize this as the place where Jesus refers to Himself as the Good Shepherd.

The Lord intended for the Christian to be known by our love for one another! Not the love that ebbs and flows with the tides of the sea but a continual love.
