About The Winelands welcomes Ken Forrester of Ken Forrester Wines, which is situated on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain, in the heart of South Africa’s most famous wine region Stellenbosch. The history of the farm dates back to 1689 and was first named Scholtzenhof, one of the oldest farms in Stellenbosch.  After a succession of owners and hard times especially in the 1990's, the farm was purchased on an auction by Ken Forrester and his wife, Teresa, in 1993.  The farm was renamed Ken Forrester and the first wines under the Ken Forrester label were produced in 1994.

Located in the Bottelary Hills, with elevated south-west facing slopes overlooking Table Bay, the Steenkamp farms Friesland and Groenland are ideally situated for producing the finest quality Stellenbosch varieties. Friesland is also a province in the northern part of The Netherlands, and hence honours the Dutch heritage of the first Steenkamps settling in the Cape during the late 1600’s.

De Bruyn and Piet are the 4th generation Steenkamp's farming on the family land, with De Bruyn managing the Friesland business and Piet the Groenland business. Their winemaker sister Marié has joined the team as Friesland winemaker, where De Bruyn’s wife Marilise runs finance and logistics. Dad Kosie has been integral in growing the business where it is today and remains a core part of the team.

ABOUT THE WINELANDS welcomes Deidre Taylor, the Sales and Marketing Manager for Kanonkop Wine Estate which is situated in Stellenbosch, South Africa.  Kanonkop is a 4th generation family-owned estate, which has been handed down from generation to generation and is now in the hands of brothers Paul and Johann Krige. The name Kanonkop is derived from a hillock (kop) on the Simonsberg mountain above the estate from where, during the 17th and 18th centuries, a cannon (kanon) was fired to announce the arrival of sailing ships entering Table Bay.
