    We have our final medical mission of 2013 to El Salvador next week. The visiting medical team will be from
    Mott's Children's Hospital, University of Michigan. This program is rated #3 in the United States for
    Pediatric Cardiac Care so our Salvadoran children will be in great hands.
    We hope to operate 10 more children next week. This will bring us to more than 150 children operated so far
    this year at Hospital Bloom in El Salvador. Additionally, we have performed non-invasive yet life-saving
    catheterization procedures on 40 Salvadoran children this year bringing us very close to our goal of
    operating 200 Salvadoran children in 2013 with one more month to go.
    By the end of 2013, we will have treated nearly 700 Salvadoran children since the "Our Hearts are in El
    Salvador" program was initiated in 2010.
    Our Heartbeats of Hope fundraiser at the end of October was a huge success and 11 children were completely
    sponsored to receive their lifesaving heart surgeries at the beginning of 2014.

  • Angeles Flight
    Accent ON!’s host ILONA EUROPA interviewed singer-songwriter LIAM KEVANY from the band
    Angeles Flight on Monday. Liam said: We are a Los Angeles based group that plays music for the soul. We came
    together the summer of 2012 to play funky jams. Rock is our easel, and Jazz, Funk, Fusion, Classical, and
    anything that sounds good are our colors. I formed the band after hearing Gary Clark Jr. last summer. At the
    time I was doing a lot of side man stuff and I didn't have my own project. Angeles Flight became my baby. We
    are a quartet (guitar/vocals, bass, drums, and hype man). I went to high school with all three of these guys.
    In the past year we've played a good amount of gigs around the LA area. We had a monthly spot at the Tribal
    Cafe in Echo Park up until September. The Lyric Theater, The Redwood Bar, AmplyFI, Tommy's Place, Think Tank
    Art Gallery, The Eaglerock Music Festival and The Living Room are some of the many places we've played at in
    LA. Lately we've been doing a lot of behind the scenes stuff. As you may know, we're having at our EP Release
    show at the Mint November 10th. We also just filmed our first music video. All I can say is that I'm excited

    Ilona Europa had the pleasure speak on the phone with singer songwriter/promoter NATASHA MIRA and our
    second guest singer /songwriter JONNY SHORR . Both of them are promoting Angeles Flight’s EP Release show at
    the MINT in Los Angeles. It was lovely to find out that all of my guests are students studying at USC and
    representing their Music Department. For this special project promoting Angeles Flight, they shared that they
    were very excited to have helped plan and now promote Liam's band's EP Release Show this upcoming November.
    Angeles Flight has been working hard in the studio, and now alongside Professor Shoals and Jacaranda Red,
    their opening acts, they will be rocking The Mint LA on the 10th and handing out free copies of their new
    record.

    This Monday on Accent ON! host Ilona Europa interviewed amazing singer-Raju Ivaturi. Raju
    is a 10th grade student of Oak Park High. He is learning Carnatic music vocal from Sri Sasha Chary for the
    past 5 years. We had a pleasure to meet Raju's mother Saritha Ivaturi and his sister Chaitanya. Both young
    talents sang for us.
    This Monday also on Accent ON! host ILONA EUROPA interviewed CAROL URTON author and speaker.
    We learned more about her book " When Hope Hurts". Carol Urton is a national lecturer and has been invited
    to be a speaker at numerous conferences, workshops, retreats and conventions. She is a published author of
    several articles and short stories and has been a featured guest on several radio and television programs.
    Her long awaited book, "Where is God? When Hope Hurts" was released in January 2013 and is now available.
    Carol is currently working on the sequel, "Growing in God's Hope". Carol is an accomplished speaker whose
    goal is to inspire people to achieve their full potential despite hardships in life. She is passionate about
    issues relating to childhood abuse and neglect.
    Carol is also known nationally for her work with Web Wise Kids, speaking on the topic of Internet safety
    helping youth and adults understand how to have a safe and positive experience while online, social
    networking and using cell phones.

    This Monday Accent ON!'s host ILONA EUROPA had the pleasure to ask the MAYOR OF ONTARIO,
    PAUL LEON, a few questions via telephone interview.
    Independent candidate Paul Leon and Democrat Freddie Rodriguez have their eyes on representing the 52nd
    Assembly District.
    Voters on Tuesday will be asked to choose between Leon, the Ontario mayor, and Rodriguez, a Pomona
    councilman, to serve the district that includes Montclair, Ontario, Chino and portions of Fontana and Pomona.
    Leon, once a registered Republican who switched to an independent after losing to Torres for the state Senate
    seat, said he believes most Americans are fed up with the two-party system.
    “I believe people are looking for the right candidate to serve as their representative, not the right party
    to represent them,” he said.
    “I’m about people, and not politics or party,” he also said. “I’m about getting some jobs in this state. I’m
    going to put California back to work again because as the only independent I will have the leverage it takes
    to force the two parties to work together.”
