Title: Richard Diamond, Private Detective, Collection 3 Series: #3 of The Richard Diamond, Private Detective Series Author: Black Eye Entertainment Narrator: A Full Cast Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 7 hours 52 minutes Release date: October 29, 2019 Genres: Arts & Entertainment Publisher's Summary: Created by Blake Edwards (of Pink Panther fame), Richard Diamond, Private Detective came to NBC radio in 1949 starring film actor and crooner Dick Powell. Powell had recently played Philip Marlowe in the popular RKO film Murder, My Sweet and jumped at the chance to play a suave detective on radio. Richard Diamond was a light-hearted New York–based private eye who enjoyed ribbing the cops and singing songs to his millionairess girlfriend, Helen Asher (played by Virginia Gregg). It’s theme, “Leave it to Love,” was whistled by Powell at the beginning of each episode. Powell’s production company (Four Star Television) produced a TV version of Richard Diamond, Private Detective for CBS in 1957. David Janssen, who would later gain fame as Dr. Richard Kimble on The Fugitive, was cast as TV’s Richard Diamond. Sam, Diamond’s beautiful secretary in the TV series, was only shown from the waist down. Title: Amos ’n’ Andy, Vol. 7 Series: #7 of The Amos ’n’ Andy Series Author: Black Eye Entertainment Narrator: Charles Correll, Freeman Gosden, A Full Cast Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 7 hours 53 minutes Release date: October 29, 2019 Genres: Arts & Entertainment Publisher's Summary: Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll star as Amos ‘n’ Andy, in the most popular comedy show of the Golden Age of radio! On March 19, 1928, Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll introduced Amos ‘n’ Andy, which went on to become one of the most popular and longest-running programs in radio history. During the height of its popularity, almost the entire country listened to the fifteen-minute, Monday-through-Friday adventures of Amos ‘n’ Andy. Department stores piped in the broadcasts so shoppers wouldn’t miss an episode, and movie theaters scheduled their features to end just prior to the start of Amos ‘n’ Andy so they too could pipe it in. Amos and Andy ran the Fresh-Air Taxi Company, with the more stable, married Amos doing most of the work while Andy chased girls. In 1943, after 4,091 quarter-hour episodes, it switched to a half-hour weekly comedy. While the five-a-week show often had a quiet, easygoing feeling, the new version was a brassy Hollywood-style production, complete with a studio audience, full cast of supporting actors, and a full orchestra. Many of the half-hour programs were written by Joe Connelly and Bob Mosher, later the writing team for Leave It to Beaver and The Munsters. In the new version, Amos became a minor character to the more dominant Andy and Kingfish duo. The Mozhdah Show earned her the nickname “The Oprah of Afghanistan” and tackled taboo subjects like divorce and domestic violence for the first time in the country’s history. • The Four Trials of Henry Ford: And His Pursuit of the Dark Fruit of Narcissism by Gregory R. Piché

Title: The Four Trials of Henry Ford: And His Pursuit of the Dark Fruit of Narcissism Author: Gregory R. Piché Narrator: David De Vries Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 12 hours 21 minutes Release date: October 15, 2019 Genres: Arts & Entertainment Publisher's Summary: The Four Trials of Henry Ford chronicles Henry Ford’s forays into landmark litigation during the early years of the twentieth century. Ford was a man of extraordinary genius in the intricacies and workings of mechanical objects and in the identification and hiring of talented engineers and administrative managers. But he was constitutionally unable to permit a light to shine on anyone other than himself and often employed humiliating tactics to terminate any employee who rose to prominence. Lawyer Gregory Piché follows Ford’s lonely defense against alleged infringement of the Selden patent on the automobile brought by a powerful automotive monopoly determined to control prices and competition in the emerging automobile market. He explores a minority shareholder oppression lawsuit brought against Ford by the Dodge brothers who initially manufactured all of the mechanical parts for Ford’s cars. He covers Ford’s libel suit against the Chicago Tribune for calling him an “anarchist” and “ignorant idealist” in the midst of the patriotic fervor during the US/Mexico intervention and the run-up to World War I. And finally, he examines a Jewish lawyer’s persistent libel action against Ford for the defamation of himself and his race in anti-Semitic diatribes widely published and circulated in his personally owned newspaper, the Dearborn Independent. In recounting the Ford litigation, Piché examines Ford’s parallel manipulation of public media to advance his own political and narcissistic agenda. It follows the initial rise of his reputation as a Progressive capitalist to its ultimate erosion as a mean-spirited bigot and contributor to the propaganda that fueled the Holocaust.

  • The Book of Exodus: The Making and Meaning of Bob Marley and the Wailers’ Album of the Century by Vivien Goldman
Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/415065 to listen full audiobooks. Title: The Book of Exodus: The Making and Meaning of Bob Marley and the Wailers’ Album of the Century Author: Vivien Goldman Narrator: Vivien Goldman Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 12 hours 56 minutes Release date: September 24, 2019 Genres: Arts & Entertainment Publisher's Summary: Here is an unforgettable portrait of Bob Marley and an acutely perceptive appreciation of his musical and spiritual legacy. Reggae superstar Bob Marley is one of the world’s most important and influential artists. Exodus, named by Time magazine as “Album of the Century,” is Bob Marley’s masterpiece of spiritual exploration. Recorded in London after an assassination attempt on his life sent Marley into exile from Jamaica, Exodus is the most lasting testament to his social conscience. Vivien Goldman was the first journalist to introduce mass white audiences to the Rasta sounds of Bob Marley. Throughout the late 1970s, Goldman was a fly on the wall as she watched reggae grow and evolve, and she charted the careers of many of its superstars, especially Bob Marley. So close was Vivien to Bob and the Wailers that she was a guest at his Kingston home just days before gunmen came in a rush to kill “The Skip.” Now, in The Book of Exodus, Goldman chronicles the making of this album, from its conception in Jamaica to the raucous but intense all-night studio sessions in London. But The Book of Exodus is so much more than a making-of-a-record story. This remarkable book takes us through the history of Jamaican music and Marley’s own personal journey from the Trench Town ghetto to his status as global superstar, as well as Marley’s deep spiritual practice of Rastafari and the roots of this religion. Goldman also traces the biblical themes of the Exodus story and its practical relevance to us today, through various other art forms, leading up to and culminating with Exodus. Never before has there been such an intimate, first-hand portrait of Marley’s spirituality, his political involvement, and his life in exile in London, leading up to his triumphant return to the stage in Jamaica at the Peace Concert of 1978.
