In this episode, Hakim briefly shares what courage has meant to him in the context of leading himself, his family and his business. He shares the difference between bravery and courage and discusses the various ways harnessing our courage within can make us more effective as leaders of teams and/or our own business. There have been numerous events in Hakim’s life where courage has been a necessity and results in extraordinary results. It involved calculated risk-taking and trust in his ability to persevere without always knowing how things would ultimately pan out. So, then what’s the difference between bravery and courage? How does courage impact decision-making? Can courage be used to motivate and inspire ourselves and others? How do leaders use courage as a tool for building trust and credibility? Is courage really an essential ingredient for creating a positive organizational culture? Answering these questions is such an important part of understanding how to develop courage and leverage it both in leading oneself and others. How will you uncover and face your fears and what role will courage play in your road to success?

In this episode, Hakim carves out some time on NYE 2023 to share a deeply moving and powerful quote from Mr. Rogers’ that has always made such a big impression on him. He talks about the impact of such a quote on the way in which we lead ourselves and others and why it’s not talked about more often. Hakim offers up a few areas where embracing the message behind such a quote could transform your team and your own leadership philosophy. What does helping others know they’re loved and know they can love mean for leadership? Why is love (or the lack of love) the foundation for all learning and development, not only as a leader but as someone who is responsible for supporting, developing and guiding others? How does leading with and promoting love as a leader support employee well-being and foster a more engaged workforce? What does this quote say about empowerment and encouragement? Why is this focus so important to leadership and the creation of a positive work culture? How does understanding this quote create a safer, more diverse and inclusive work environment? What makes this such an important pursuit, not only for Hakim in the year ahead but of any and all leaders out there? There is so much value to be gained by listening to these 10 minutes. If you’re a leader leading from your head and you want a better understanding of the value of leading from your heart….start here!

Kevin “The Title King” Tacher, CEO & Founder of Independence Title, Inc., joins Access Your Leadership to share his amazing comeback story and he has secured his success 20 years into running his business. In this episode, Kevin talks about the power of relationships and how not only making them, but nurturing them over time has been such a key element to his growth as a leader and his success in business. He shares what it means to not quit and to play “all out” in everything that he does, both professionally and personally, and what that creates in his world. Kevin references the many books he’s authored and shares a few of the stories in those books that tell how and why he started his business - from being an FDNY captain to helping to start a global men’s group. He openly shares how early in his entrepreneurial journey, during the 2008 recession, he was nearly $1 million dollars in debt, paying payroll on credit cards and pulled himself out. Where does one create such commitment and discipline to fight so hard and for so long? What’s the difference between leadership and management and why is it important to figure out which one you like and/or are good at? What is the difference between being an intrapreneurs, solepreneurs, and entrepreneurs? Why is surrounding yourself with the right people so important on your entrepreneurial and leadership journey? What is the fear that comes up that holds you back from making those right kinds of connections? How does taking action transform our learning and why is simply reading and listening to learn not enough?

In this episode, Hakim reflects on the spirit of the holidays, specifically what it means to believe in Santa and how believing in Santa may unlock a powerful approach to leadership and self-development. He examines and explains approaches he’s adopted from working with his own coach that address creating/manifesting as a part of leadership. While the short episode doesn’t talk entirely about creating, it does address how much more valuable and limitless it is to think that believing creates our seeing, rather than needing to see something to believe (in) it. This perspective is also discussed in the context of developing ourselves as leaders and the “having” vs. “not having” of certain leadership skills. Do we need to first actually have something before we can let ourselves believe we have it? Do we need to first see ourselves being a certain way before we can believe that we can be that? Where else do we see in our lives and in the world this power of believing to create what then see? Can I do this for how I lead others in the way that I might do this for myself and my own development? How does this “believing is seeing” approach relate to having a growth or fixed mindset? These questions are just an opportunity to explore and consider other possibilities and perspectives related to what you believe in. Maybe the more you let yourself believe, the more you’ll create and/or see in your career, your leadership journey and your life.

In this episode, Hakim openly shares some less widely-known stories that helped shape him into the professsional, leader and coach he is today. From an early age, he's felt a sense of connection and purpose when it comes to helping others. Hakim shares some of the activities, clubs, priorities, etc. that he chose to focus on to develop himself as a servant leader and coach. He speakes about his experience living in Morocco, not knowing the languages, and what that experience taught him about his resilence and commitment to not only doing hard things, but fully maximizing the experience in the process. Why is understanding and loving my own full story/journey so important in how I talk to myself and others about it? How important is it to pursue your passions when inspired to do so? And how does singing, acting and stunts fit into all of this? What's there to learn about ourselves from being in action, especially when the road is rough or unknown ahead? What does maintaining a growth mindset help create along the journey? How do you look at obstacles and, instead of seeing the possibility for failure, see reassurance that you're on the right path? How does creating time and space along the journey to "self-audit" or check your methaphorical backpack to see if what you're carrying still serves you and what your vision is to create. Tell your story...to others, yes, but more importantly to yourself. Do you love it? What don't you love about it? More to stories and details from these stories to come in future episodes. Stay tuned!

In this episode, Hakim discusses ego and the way in which it impacts leadership. He highlights what ego is, where it comes from, how to identify and manage it and its effect on how we lead ourselves and others. Hakim shares some personal stories about his own experience managing his own ego and working in an industry and at institutions that create professionals with some of the biggest egos out there. In this episode, he challenges you to explore how your own ego has been created and what its impact has been on your own life and career. Are you living in an “Ego Hell” that you’ve possibly created for yourself? Do you lead and live your life from an “outside in” perspective or “inside out” view of what you create in the world? How can you manage the egos you encounter at work? How does self-awareness play into managing one’s ego? Is ego all that bad when it comes to leadership? Asking and answering these questions of yourself is an effective way, through compassion and from a place of innocence, to create greater awareness of where your ego may be running the show. You don’t have to be what the world expects you to be…you get to define how you choose to lead. More to come about this topic in future episodes. Stay tuned!
