In this episode, Hakim helps to define exactly what self-awareness is and what it is not, differentiating it from self-confidence and self-esteem. In addition to sharing some of the benefits of self-awareness, Hakim talks about how important emotional intelligence is as a building block to creating greater self-awareness. Lastly, he gives some examples of what might get in your way or ways in which you can create a practice around increased self-awareness. Being that this is where a lot of the work of leading self and others begins, this felt like a natural place to start. As you listen, what did you know beforehand and what’s something new you learned about self-awareness? What’s your initial feeling or reaction to becoming more self-aware?
