After two and a half long years of living, working, brunching, loving and surviving, the Co-Hostess with the Mostest finally got caught. Having a great time during a spectacular evening, dancing the night away. All sans mask. Yup! Despite what many may think, the new reports and the CDC warns us about. It’s still out here.   People have their own philosophy about what is required to stay safe. Some people never believed masks had any value. Some people had a mask for every outfit, every color, every occasion. Meh. While the designer masks never took hold in our household, there was always one thing for sure. We wore our masks. Until we didn’t.  Now on the other side of recovering, she’s back! On the mend and out of quarantine. What a time that was had over the last five days! As a husband, the appreciation of how she holds down the home is stronger than ever. It ain’t easy. But taking care of her is an honor and there is no alternative.  Quarantine allowed time to get into some new TV action and Dahmer was on the schedule. Having been aware of the news reporting at the time the story broke 30 plus years ago, a new perspective was gained. A serial killer? Without a doubt. When the layers of the onion are peeled back, there is so much more to be discovered.  A story of a sociopath. Effects of post-party’s depression. Domestic disturbance. Homophobia. Sexual repression. It’s all in there. A big pot of messy stew left to be digested bit by bit. Pun intended.  Let’s get into it. Chances are if you ask most men if they’d be willing to have a ménage a Trois with their female significant other, the answer would be adamant yes, assuming the additional party would be another female. Now flip the same question to a woman with the thought of two men indulging in her and each other, not many would be in agreement to participate. In a world of progressive fluidity in sexual identification, why is it still taboo for bisexual me to be in a heterosexual relationship but women are gazed upon lustfully if they dabble in the lady pond?

The phenomenon of “DL” men is more common than people truly know. Some may attribute this lifestyle to men being ashamed of their sexual desires towards men. However, some may acknowledge that women are far less likely to engage in relationships with men who have been in relationships with men. Does if make it right to be deceptive about your past and/or present desires? Hell no. Yet some may say it’s understood why done men may hesitantly divulge this detail about their lifestyle.

Frequently on social media, you can find women humping and grinding on their same-sex friends while partying and having a good ole time. In some vids, kisses are exchanged and who knows what else happens after the “let out”. This behavior may be a good time for a short time for some and a permanent thread in their lifestyle for others. In either case, men wouldn’t bat an eye of disapproval.

A perfect case of societal double standards. Double standards are everywhere. More often, we see them in his young boys are raised vs their female siblings. In most cases, the double standard benefits the male counterpart. But in cases of bisexuality, who has the upper hand?

Per the renowned resource Wikipedia, there have been 60 rappers killed since 1987. In retrospect, considering 60 murders in 35 years may not sound alarming. But if we take a second look at how many of the same non-military and non-police professionals have been murdered, understandably being a rapper may be one of the most dangerous professions.  If we take a closer look at the murders of rap professionals, 25% of the listed murders in the last 35 years have occurred within the last three years. Is this a microcosm of rap culture? Or is this indicative of the violence we are see across America throughout the nexus of rap culture, our urban communities? Black men across America are dying at alarming rates due to gun violence. Does this come with the territory? Or just happenstance?  Despite life expectancy gradually increasing over the last 30 years due to medical advancements, the reality of urban America, or to be more specific, black men in the hood, is that living a long prosperous life is seen as a luxury and not a guarantee. Without any clue how to stop the violence, are black men moving towards extinction?  When we think of extinction, woolly mammoths, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and neanderthals come to mind. Creatures of the yesteryears that seem mythical to present society. The thought of black men being in that category 200 years from now is frightening. But unfortunately, seems quite feasible.  The murder of PNB Rock is a sad but to common reminder of how short and unpredictable life can be. Although a public figure with national acclaim, his story is different from so many black men in America. What does Rich Kidz, Tory Lanez, and Tink all have in common? Not sure many people would guess if they had a handful of guesses. Well, no guesses needed. This isn’t Jeopardy (Rest In Peace Alex Trebek). Friends With Benefits. Yup. That’s the answer.  Now we’re not here to start any rumors. We have no idea what goes on in anyone's personal life. Unless Shaderoom, Hollywood Unlocked, or Baller Alert gives up the deets, we don’t know anything. However, songs can be found from all three artists titled the same.   For those who may have just come from under a rock and not really sure with the terminology “Friends with Benefits”, or FWB for short, the Urban Dictionary definition interprets this to mean “Two friends who have a sexual relationship without being emotionally involved.”  Now when we consider platonic relationships, it’s hard to believe there aren’t some that a true authentic friendships. Humans are sexual in nature, but not Vikings who can’t help themselves. However, because of the potential of those “friends” turning to “FWB”, many people give a side eye to the thought of their other half having a BFF of a different sex.  Check out Episode 87 to hear our thoughts. The formative years of a child’s life are those in which they are most impressionable, teachable & some may say, the most innocent. These years are the time period between 0-8 years old when brain development is the fastest after birth. What happens to a child in these years can affect how they develop physically and mentally, and how successful they are in life.  So what happens when one of the most integral parts is missing from a child’s life during this pivotal period of their life? In more specific terms, what happens when one parent removes themselves from a child’s life? Or maybe never shows up to begin with?  Many people can attest to single parents doing a tremendous job raising and nurturing children who become great contributors to society. This goes for single mothers and fathers raising sons and daughters. Does this still negate need for children to have both parents? Even more importantly, how pertinent is it for young boys to have their fathers?  Check out Episode 86 as we discuss this all-too-common scenario. It’s probably fair to say most people enter situations with an expected outcome. Although it’s imperative to remain realistic about all feasible outcomes of any scenario, we as humans tend to want things to go one way or another. But what happens when those expectations aren’t met after we feel we’ve done our due diligence to bring to fruition? Have we been played like fools, or did we play our own selves?

Social media has given us a front row seat to real life drama previously only available on Bold & the Beautiful or Days of Our Lives. These Days of Our Lives are showing one’s true colors & creating opportunity for much judgment. The answer to who is wrong or right could change based on who’s asked. But is it any of our business to begin with?

Whether we want to be included in the drama or not, it’s being provided for our attention when a man feels he’s been wronged by a woman unwilling to provide intimacy after he’s splurged fir her entertainment. Is this a result of toxic masculinity or was he misled? Should a woman feel obligated to reciprocate for gifts & trips with her body? We know for some; this may be their profession. But in other circumstances, this gets messy. But does it need to be?

¡Viva Colombia! One of the first things to ring through our ears as we entered the gates of Latin America. A beautiful bravado sang loudly by a proud citizen returning to his home. This was the sentiment felt throughout La República de Colombia, the gateway to South America.

Although not our first international trip, our travels to Colombia was the first trip to a nation where English was not commonly spoken, and the US dollar was not the desired currency. Having visited Puerto Rico twice and Jamaica three times thus far, this was a communication hurdle we had to find our way over, under or around. And we did just that. 

The co-hostess studied Spanish in high school for four years. Since her last day of high school was just over 24 years ago, it’s safe to say those lessons are no longer fresh in her memory. However, having the ability to speak a smidge above basic Spanish gave us a slight advantage that was much needed and appreciated. Based on a December 2015 article from The City Paper of Bogotá, only 5% of Colombians speak English. So again, those 4 years of Spanish provided by Girls’ High came in handy throughout our visit.

This vacation was our annual trip taken in celebration of the host’s birthday.  This year was slightly different. Turning 45 is a big deal. It’s even more of a big deal when you’ve grown up in the heart of North Philadelphia without any dream that you’d live beyond the age of 18. Being a young black male from Strawberry Mansion and seeing 25 years old is an accomplishment. At 30, you might be able to breathe a sigh of relief. Making it to 45 was not thought of 25 years ago. However, here we are.

Birthday gifts come in all sizes. Colors, styles and packages. This year’s birthday gift was one for the books…or maybe for the mouth. Having been insecure about smiling since 19, having the opportunity to correct it at this point in life was highly anticipated and appreciated. The slight pain that was endured was worth the reflection in the mirror. 

Cosmetic surgery isn’t for everyone. You’d probably not be able to tell based on the number of wheelchairs lined up at the American Airlines gate as we prepared for departure. Women with body enhancements seemingly in pain were amongst those returning to the States.  No judgement here. Although their surgery may have been different, the result was the same. Their dollars, or pesos, provided them an opportunity to make changes they wanted and hopefully they’re all smiles.

We love to laugh and have a great time. However, at times there are issues that require our sincere attention. The rise of domestic violence has reached alarming rates. Some may attribute the recent pandemic as the spark that lit the fire, but this is nothing new. Growing up in homes where domestic violence was a frequent occurrence, we certainly can attest to the impacts that last a lifetime.

While there are men and women who are victims and survivors of domestic violence, this episode focuses on the women. This is partly attributed to the experiences we lived through in our childhood, and also due to reason reports of domestic violence against women that unfortunately ended in murder.

In the city of Philadelphia, Ashley Lockhart, a mother of 6 daughters, was brutal murder Ed by her children’s father whom she also had a protection from abuse order against. Unfortunately, the legal intervention did not hinder her untimely demise leaving her daughters without their devoted mother. This is just one example of the horrific results that can come about in relationships plagued with domestic violence.

We hope that anyone who is a victim finds the strength, mentally, emotionally, and physically, to escape the life they are being subjected to. No one deserves to be abused. In whatever form of abuse that’s being imposed, you can find help.

Boys vs Girls. Ladies and Gentlemen. His and Hers. There’s always a distinction being made between me and women. Whether it’s competition or just in the vain of delineation, we’re constantly reminded of how different we are

When we start to ask some questions, are we really that different? Sometimes it can seem there’s a bigger difference than it truly is based primarily on a  lack of understanding. Although men and women have been partnered together since Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, how well do we truly know one another? U til we really start to ask questions and be open and honest with our feelings, that knowledge gap will forever remain. 

So let’s ask those questions! Grab your friends, partners or maybe just chill and have some you time. Get into these questions and let us know your thoughts. Men and women are both probably viewed more complicated than we truly are. So let’s clear the air and make it plain from our perspective.

In the midst of a heatwave, in the heart of the Big Apple, possibly during the onset of a monkey pox outbreak, we had the amazing opportunity to be WOW’ed by the greats. 

Get a taste of this greatness experienced through our eyes. Hopefully you’ll get a chance to enjoy their art as well as Episode 81.
