Welcome to Season Two Episode 4 of Activista Rise Up! This new episode is about the gender and racial #PayGap and joining us today is Julene Allen, CEO of Women of Color in the Workplace. DYK: Women are paid on average 82 cents to a man’s dollar? The disparities are even greater for Native American women (63 cents), Black women (60 cents), and Hispanic women (55 cents) compared to white men's wages, respectively. Julene suffered all types of discrimination while working in corporate America and those experiences shaped her activism today fighting for equal pay for women.

Listen to the full interview to learn about Carlos’ courageous unplanned interaction with now President Joe Biden during a campaign town hall in South Carolina. This exchange elevated the need to push for a Democratic presidential candidate platform that included a commitment to NOT ONE MORE deportation and a commitment from Democratic candidates to Keep Families Together. 

Carlos began his activism in NJ, as one of the founders of the NJ Dream Act Coalition. NJDAC today, is a statewide immigrant youth-led organization that advocates for immigrant youth rights locally and nationally.
