For our 99th episode we are joined by Broadway and television actor Carman Lacivita who talks all about his current role in the world premiere Off-Broadway production of “To My Girls”, a hilarious new play about a group of gay friends reuniting for a vacation in Palm Springs in a post-COVID world. Despite the hilarity, the play touches on a number of sensitive but important topics from queer identity and race to politics and cancel culture.
Carman also chats with us about the misconceptions he uncovered when it comes to his “ethnically ambiguous” appearance, navigating portraying LGBTQ+ stereotypes during auditions and how he’s learned to enter an audition with his best work and not embarrass the casting director who vouched for him.
TO MY GIRLS is in performances until April 24th at Second Stage’s Tony Kiser Theatre in New York City.
