  • Episode 130 - Rambo: First Blood (1:05:34)
Memorial Day isn't just about sales on electronics and home appliances, it's also a time to discuss valor and heroism and sacrifice. With that, we bring you our review of Rambo: First Blood
Green Beret veteran Rambo takes on a Pacific Northwest sheriff and the National Guard. He's a soft-spoken Vietnam vet who drifts into a small town looking for no trouble, but finds it in the form of a psychotic local sheriff who finds pleasure in hating him for no reason.`
Join us next week as we boldly go where many have trod before, but not on this podcast, and do a few episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation for our birthday boy. We will be discussing
    S1, E7: Justice and S2, E9: The Measure of a Man. Engage!

Robert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/Anarcho-Capitalist perspective.
We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking. Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread and butter.
We also will highlight and discuss any themes or lessons from Austrian Economics that we can glean from the film.
The point is to show what anarchy actually is with instances that are presented in film.
We publish at least once per week; and occasionally will do specials surrounding holidays or events (elections/olympics) and have guests.

  • Episode 129 - The Day the Earth Stood Still (1:30:52)
We stare at the brink of destruction and analyze a movie that was so good, they made it twice. We're talking about "The Day the Earth Stood Still" with special guest, Dr. Dennis Foster.
The original 1951 version about the Cold War where an alien emissary gives a dramatic demonstration of power when he attempts to warn mankind about the folly of atomic experimentation.
In the remake Watermelon one they made Heinz-57 years later in 2008 starring Neo from the Matrix, renowned scientist Dr. Helen Benson finds herself face to face with an alien called Klaatu, who travels across the universe to warn of an impending global crisis.

We swing into action for Mother's Day to talk about Into the Spider-verse with Jack V Lloyd and the Pholosopher, two of the hardest working AnCap in the business.
This will be a fun discussion as we go deep into comic lore and find the economic and moral angles that free-wheel our episodes into the third-rail of cultural Marxism.

Wherever there is injustice. Wherever liberty is threatened. We will not die like dogs. We will fight like lions. We don our sombreros of cultural appropriation and celebrate Cinco de Drinko in style with an analysis of Three Amigos.
We have a plethora of discussion on this fun movie with Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short.

  • Episode 126 - Galaxy Quest (1:16:40)
It was just earth day, so we thought we'd get off this filthy rock and head out on a Galaxy Quest. This is a fun homage movie to the Star Trek universe that stars Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman among others in a fun jaunt that may not give us much to talk about. We shall see. Never give up, never surrender.
The alumni cast of a cult space TV show have to play their roles as the real thing when an alien race needs their help.
By Grabthar's Hammer, by the Sons Of Warvan, you shall be avenged!

  • Episode 125 - The Passion of the Christ (1:18:05)
We are joined by Stephen from AnarchoChristian to discuss the Mel Gibson movie, "The Passion of the Christ" for Easters. This was a potential powder-keg of an episode with two atheists and a Christian guest with a very controversial movie that intersects the not-polite conversation topics of politics and religion. We cross the streams for this extra-long Easter episode.
The Passion of The Christ focuses on the last twelve hours of Jesus of Nazareth’s life. The film begins in the Garden of Olives where Jesus has gone to pray after The Last Supper. Jesus must resist the temptations of Satan. Betrayed by Judas Iscariot, Jesus is then arrested and taken within the city walls of Jerusalem where leaders of the Pharisees confirm him with the accusations of blasphemy and his trial results in a condemnation to death.

  • Episode 124 - Dodgeball (59:30)
We dodge, dip, duck, dive and dodge our way through the mid-aughts classic, Dodgeball with our new friend Tyler. A group of misfits enter a Las Vegas dodgeball tournament in order to save their cherished local gym from the onslaught of a corporate health fitness chain. It's a bold strategy Cotton, but we're going to go balls deep into the NAP on this one.
Join us next week as we do an Easter-themed film with Stephen of AnarchoChristian and analyse the Mel Gibson movie, “the Passion of the Christ.”

  • Episode 123 - The Truman Show (1:16:47)
We pop into biosphere II in the Dark-City dome from the Hunger Games to battle it out with the socialist, Jim Carrey, as we discuss his 1998 film "The Truman Show" directed by Peter Weir.
The movie is all about a utopian central-planner playing the role of a god (or a government for that matter) in the life of an unwitting subject of their hubris of control. There is plenty of philosophical meat to chew on in this one.
We get into a wordy discussion with our returning guest Mike C. who admirably filled in for our other friend, Olof the Anarcho-Viking, who had a scheduling conflict arise recently. We will be sure to have him on for a movie discussion in the near future.
Join us next week as we continue with our bold strategy and see it is pays off when we discuss
Dodgeball with one of our new friends, Tyler.

  • Episode 122 - Behind the Curve (1:07:54)
We're about to get crazy with the cheeze-wiz. Where is the curvature? This old-world idea has been resurrected in recent years, even some NBA players had made claims to it...that the Earth is flat.
In libertarian circles, it has been one more useful tool in the process of weeding out FB friends.
The flat-earthers feel like they are the correct and they are a marginalized group on the edge of science that follows the Gandhi “first they laugh at you.”
    We shall discuss.
Join us next week as we continue our series on flat-earth for our episode on “The Truman Show” with returning guest, Olof the Anarcho-Viking.

  • Episode 121 - Dark City (59:51)
We do an analysis of Dark City with special guest, Nicky P. of the Sounds Like Liberty Podcast, which can also be found on the Launch Pad Media. This was a pick by Nick and I'm glad he did. We'll find our way to Shell Beach with him on the barrelhead.
Separated from his wife Emma, amnesiac John Murdoch awakens alone in a strange hotel to learn he is wanted for a series of brutal killings. Things get weird when we are introduced to the Borg-like vampires who control the world above in tabernacle-choir fashion using their collective telekinesis to reshape the lives of others. Their quest to save their species by understanding what it means to be “human” creates a dystopian laboratory on a floating disc in space.

About Actual Anarchy Podcast - AnCap Movie Reviews from a Rothbardian Perspective

From the publisher's feed

In the spirit of the great “Mister First Nighter”, Murray Rothbard’s movie critic review pen name, Robert and I analyze popular movies from a Anarcho-Capitalist perspective.
