Adam Cheek's Sports Week

Cheek's buddy Jason Boleman joins the show once again for a scattershot episode covering a bunch of topics. Adam and Jason first discuss the NBA playoffs and whether the Celtics' window to win a title is closing, as well as VCU basketball news after multiple players -- including Tobi Lawal and Jason Nelson -- entered the portal recently.

Then, the dynamic duo breaks down Sunday's wild NASCAR Cup Series finish at Talladega, which saw Tyler Reddick scoot past the dominant Michael McDowell and the win-drought-plagued Brad Keselowski to win for Michael Jordan (not to mention Corey LaJoie flipping and sliding on his side past the start-finish line). The episode concludes with a brief preview of the NFL Draft, and which players Adam (Seahawks) and Jason (Commanders) want to see their teams draft.

After a short break, Adam returns with a frequent guest from his 910 days: former 910 host himself and current voice of the Carolina Hurricanes Mike Maniscalco. The two discuss the Stanley Cup Playoffs that start in just a couple of days, teams to watch out for, how the Hurricanes got to the postseason and much more.

Mike also breaks down the Arizona Coyotes' sale finalization and eventual move and its impact on the league, as well as his prediction for the Stanley Cup Finals matchup 🏒

As always, it was awesome to be out covering the NASCAR race weekend at Richmond Raceway for Frontstretch along with the one and only Michael Massie, who joins the podcast this week to recap all the Easter-weekend action on (and off) the track.

We talk Joey Gase chucking his rear bumper at Dawson Cram, Denny Hamlin's restart controversy, Martin Truex Jr.'s domination and more -- plus, recap the Xfinity and Cup Series' races as a whole.

Just days after the Richmond Spiders' women's basketball team won the Atlantic 10 tournament championship out in Henrico in early March, I sat down with head coach Aaron Roussell and senior forward -- and A-10 tourney Most Outstanding Player -- Addie Budnik to talk hoops.

We chatted about what that moment was like as UR clinched the tournament title, their impressive regular season, preparing for the tournament, what each of their time at Richmond has meant to them, the team's resilience throughout the year and so much more. They'll take on Duke on Friday (March 22) at 2:30pm 🏀 🕷️

A few days before the University of Richmond women's basketball team headed to Columbus for their NCAA Tournament matchup with Duke, I sat down with graduate forward Anna Camden to talk about her first season as a Spider.

Though she didn't play due to an ACL injury, we discussed the recovery process, what led her to Richmond after four years at Penn State, working with SpiderTV and her social media presence, her background on the court and being a part of a conference championship this season (and more)!

Huge thanks to her for the time, and I'll have a sit-down with Coach Aaron Roussell and A-10 Tournament Most Outstanding Player Addie Budnik tomorrow as well. UR plays on Friday at 2:30pm 🏀 🕷️

I caught up with Ryan Kopacsi, the longtime (and recently-returned) director of the Peppas at VCU, a couple weeks ago at the Siegel Center.

We talked about the atmosphere at the Stu during games, what it's like directing the band, adjusting to game tempo, the 2011 Final Four run and so much more. Ryan also discusses his two stints with the Rams, returning to the Black and Gold for the 2022-23 season and what brought him to VCU in the first place 🐏

I reunite with Tyler Jackson, a good friend from WAY back in high school circa 2012-16, to break down all things Academy Awards. Publishing this late thanks to a LOT of stuff going on, but even after the Oscars we can still talk awards season and the best movies of 2023, right?

We talked about our predictions ahead of the 96th edition of the ceremony, the biggest snubs of the nominations and some of our favorite films of the year.

I sat down with VCU women's basketball graduate forward Mykel Parham ahead of the A-10 tournament to talk about her All-Defensive and All-Academic accolades, preview the championship bracket, break down the team's preparation and discuss setting multiple records this past Saturday.

We also talked about her basketball journey and what brought her to VCU, as well as the resiliency the team has shown all season long with never losing more than one game in a row.

I'll be out at the tournament as media late this week and this weekend, so be sure to follow me on social media:
