June 22, 2020KiYKiYBlac Creating music that reflects who i amKiYKiYBlac shares his amazing story of what it was like growing up in Boston as a black gay kid that had to learn to defend himself with his sharp wits and intelligence. He refused to live feeling boxed in and found his voice as a rapper that spoke from his perspective — being gay, sexual, black and so much more. When he would preform on stage he realizes that he is different and speaking from the gay experience is still something that is not widely accepted in the "rap community” at large just yet. In this say KiYKiYBlac is pushing the boundaries and challenging the status quo. He finds so much inspiration in the positive feedback that he is getting and encouragement to keep blazing ahead form the fans that come up to him after shows and reach out to him online. One thing that leapt out at me was KiYKiYBlac's approach to focusing and not letting his fears stop him form achieving his dreams was his use of mediation techniques. June 22, 2020Sherrie Laughter Inner Peace and Changing your lifeSherrie made a giant change in herself that has now completely changed who she is. What she realized was that so much of who she was as a person was programmed in her from a young age and it was not serving her well. In fact it was diminishing her life in a way that made it hard to lover herself. When she hard her daughter and found a specific podcast that spoke to her she began to recognize the changes that she needed to make in order to become the person that she wanted to be inside and take back the lover for herself. In turn she was now passing on the new values and respect for herself to her daughter. Sherrie found a belief in herself and ways to live in a healthy way, not following other and gaining her own voice. She found purpose and inner peace. When she is unsure of something she takes the time to investigate the uncertainty internally and make the course corrections if needed — meaning she is not so easily swayed by others and emotions that come and go. Sherrie has an amazing story for us today....more23minPlay

June 20, 2020Henry What does it mean to love someone who is an addictHenry is writing a book called Hometown Heroin that documents his struggles with this ex girlfriend. We spoke today on our podcast call about substance abuse, enablement, addiction, our preconceived perceptions of drug dens and dealers and what it means to love someone and ultimately have to let them go. Henry spends time with us reflecting on what he did right and what he did wrong as he tries to sort though difficult situations. He talks about how when things started out he could never have imagined that he would have gone down the path that he ended up on. He says it was analogous of a fun house of mirrors in a circus where the deeper he went into the maze the more confusing and distorted things became. We talk about the economic hardships and loss of identity and purpose in America today. Read Henry’s stories that he is forming into a novel here: https://hometownheroin.com...more51minPlay
