The Holy Things Vodcast: Episode 2 Scary Giants. In this episode we talk about how David led a life of dominion rather than one of control. We also look at how to defeat the giants in our lives. Adam blows the shofar and Joe keeps in real with his Cranberries impersonations from the 90s.
David’s Dominion – 1 Samuel 17:45-47 – Dominion: David never slayed a giant on his own. We are a people called to live in Dominion. There is a distinct difference between Dominion and control. It is God’s desire to establish you beyond the margins of your ability to control.

Samuel Anoints David: Time to Move On 1 Samuel 16:1-13
God’s timing can be one of the biggest giants that we face. Many of us find it hard to wait without taking control of our lives rather than being patient for God to act. In this message, we look at Saul’s attempt to please and appease God by an act that turns out to be disobedient and in the end ultimately rips the kingdom from Saul’s hand. How are you doing with God’s timing?
Israel was looking for a king and found their man. Unfortunately it was not God’s man. Nonetheless, God’s grace blessed Israel despite their decision. Also in this talk, we look at how God cares for us while we might feel we are wasting our time in life “looking for donkeys”.
God has a funny habit of giving us what we want. This is especially true when what we want goes against what is best for us. Israel wanted a king rather then walking the more liberating faith journey of only serving God. They paid a price for this in the end. In this sermon I talk about being all you are called to be and the temptation to take the easy way out.
