Researchers at the University of Manitoba have found that by the year 2100 rainfall could overtake snowfall in the arctic because of rapid global warming and loss of sea ice. Dr. Michelle McCrystall, the study’s lead researcher and a post doctoral fellow, University of Manitoba, joined Adam to discuss the future of precipitation in the arctic.

Adam was joined by Usman Khan, assistant professor of civil engineering at York University, to talk about how cities could use sponge material as flood prevention instead of concrete and sand.

As of June 1, all concrete supplied for public and private construction projects in the city that require more than 50 cubic metres of concrete will have to be produced using carbon dioxide mineralization technologies, or an equivalent that offers concrete with lower embodied carbon dioxide. Stew Young, Langford Mayor, joined Adam to talk about this carbon reducing move.
Later, Alina Fisher, wildlife biologist and student in environmental studies at University of Victoria, joined Adam to talk about black-tailed deer in Oak Bay and why they’re attracted to the area.
