DECEMBER 23

- Habakkuk 1:1–3:19: Habakkuk questions God’s use of wicked Babylon to judge Judah; God replies that Babylon will also fall.

- In awe, Habakkuk rejoices in God’s sovereignty and strength, trusting Him even if all else fails.

- Psalm 146:1–10: Praise the Lord lifelong; trust God, not princes—He upholds the oppressed, feeds the hungry, frees prisoners, and reigns forever.

- Proverbs 30:17: The eye that mocks a father and despises an aged mother will be pecked out by ravens and eaten by vultures.

- Revelation 13:1–18: Beast from sea (antichrist empire) receives dragon’s power, is worshiped after healing; beast from earth enforces mark (666) and image worship.

- No one can buy or sell without the beast’s mark or number; God’s people must endure with wisdom.

December 23 – Luke Chapter 23

Crucified and Buried

- Crucified between criminals; “Father, forgive them”

- “Today you will be with Me in paradise”; “It is finished”

Proverbs 22

- Wisdom teaches humility, fearing the Lord, and generous living

- Rich and poor alike are made by God; diligence brings honor, sloth leads to poverty

Psalm 106

- Israel’s history of rebellion against God is recounted

- Yet God’s mercy repeatedly saves them despite their sins

Psalm 107

- God delivers the needy from various distresses: hunger, captivity, sickness, storms

- Those redeemed are called to give thanks and tell of His steadfast love

Psalm 108

- The psalmist praises God with heart and song, seeking His help against enemies

- Trust is placed in God alone, not in human strength

Psalm 109

- A cry for justice against wicked accusers who repay good with evil

- The psalmist asks God to judge them and vindicate the righteous

Psalm 110

- The Lord promises the Messiah a priestly kingship forever after the order of Melchizedek

- He will rule in the midst of His enemies and judge the nations

DECEMBER 22

- Nahum 1:1–3:19: God decrees Nineveh’s total destruction for its evil; Judah will find relief and peace.

- Slow to anger yet unstoppable, the Lord shatters Assyria’s power; no fortress can stand.

- Psalm 145:17–21: The Lord is righteous and near to all who truly call; He saves lovers of God, destroys the wicked.

- Saints praise Him forever; He hears and fulfills the desires of those who fear Him.

- Proverbs 30:16: Four insatiable things: the grave, barren womb, thirsty earth, and fire.

- Revelation 12:1–17: Woman births Messiah; dragon (Satan) fails to devour Him; child ascends to God.

- Michael casts dragon to earth; enraged Satan pursues the woman and her offspring who keep Jesus’ testimony.

Betrayal and the Last Supper

- Last Supper → Lord’s Supper instituted; Peter’s denial foretold

- Gethsemane: “Father, if willing… yet not My will”

Micah 6:1–7:20

- God pleads with Israel: demands justice, mercy, humility—not empty sacrifices.

- Though unfaithful, God will forgive, shepherd His people, and crush enemies.

Psalm 145:10–16

- All creation praises God; He is faithful, upholds the falling, feeds every living thing.

- Lord is righteous, near to all who call, opens His hand to satisfy desires.

Proverbs 30:15

- The leech has two daughters crying “Give! Give!”; three things never satisfied, four that say “Not enough!”

Revelation 11:1–19

- Two witnesses prophesy 1,260 days, killed, resurrected; temple measured, kingdom proclaimed.

- Yet now, exile comes; later, God will gather remnant, rule from Zion, destroy enemies.

- David exalts God’s greatness forever; His mighty acts praised generation to generation.

- Lord is gracious, compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in love to all.
