  • A Matter of Life & Death (Sermon Sunday)
A Matter of Life & Death (John 5:25-32)

We continue our Sermon Sunday Sessions within the Gospel of John as we worship in Spirit and Truth. Today we ask ourselves a question…

Do we hear the Word of God?

It's a matter of the heart; are we humble? "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." (Matt. 5:3).

It's a matter of obedience; do we love Jesus? "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves" (James 1:22).

It's a matter of faith; do we trust Christ? "What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no works? Can that kind of faith save them?" No, it can't save anyone, nor will it keep one saved either (James 2).

Journey with us within the inspired Word revealed in John 5:24-32 as we seek to "hear" the truth.

  • ”Equal with the Father” (Sermon Sunday)
We continue our sermon session within the Gospel of John, and thus far, we have read revealing landscapes teaching us of our Master, the Christ, His Nature and purpose on this earth, and His various interactions with Jews and non-Jews. John tells, to great controversy, that the non-believers were quick to learn and practice genuine faith. At the same time, the believers had too many reservations, neglect, and rejections, leaving them with nothing more than superficial faith. And this shallow faith was the reason they sought to harm our Lord with great hostility.

Christ will go from dialogue to monologue in the portion of Scripture we endeavor this hour, teaching His Equality with His Father. The Pharisees thought Him in opposition to the Father because He “clearly broke the Sabbath,” right? Again, these kinds make their academic pursuits into tradition and tradition into law.

So Christ will proceed to inform and instruct the audience with the truth. We are wise to journey with Him as we follow His teaching.

  • ”for this reason they tried to murder Him” (Sermon Sunday)
Journey with us in our Sermon Sunday session as we explore the Gospel of John. Within this section of Scripture, we investigate the witnessed and recorded account of hostility towards Jesus on the report of a man who was sick for 38 years. Because Jesus violated Jewish tradition and made Himself equal to His Father, religious leaders sought all the more to murder Him. What can we learn from this moment in our history?
Please be sure to follow, like, share, and comment, to help the substance of our efforts reach the community. Thank you, and God bless.

  • ”Sick for 38 years” (Sermon Sunday)
"Do you wish to get well?"

When we are sick for many months or years, we can fall into the snare of focusing on our weaknesses instead of our strengths. And this, at times, can lead to being overly dependent on others. And as it was for this man, Jesus knew He had to challenge him out of this way of thinking.

God will teach us to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and take responsibility for our lives, doing so correctly, being productive as an asset, no longer a liability.

  • Faith in Progress (Sermon Sunday)
Samaritans believed Jesus was the Messiah, and this revealed their genuine faith (4: 39-42). But the Galileans only received Jesus for His signs & wonders, and this reveals their superficial faith, for they were seeking more so to be sensationalized, rather than converted (hence vs. 44).

Through the recorded account of a royal official and his dying son, we explore a portion of Scripture (4: 46-54) giving us insight regarding faith in progress. And through this witnessed and recorded account we come to recognize Life in the Word of God, needing nothing more. The inspired Text leads us to a challenge, do we receive Jesus for Who He is, His Word? Or do we simply create a form of Christianity in the image of our own desires, finding vain fulfillment in a superficial commitment?

Journey with us for this Sermon Sunday as we "seek ye first" (Mt. 6:33)
    28 min
  • ”Independent Faith” (Sermon Sunday)
How can a woman in the culture of her day (a Samaritan woman no less) snared in sinful practice and belief, ever become fruitful for the Gospel? Is it not the Jews who should have been productive for the Christ?

May we journey together in this portion of Scripture to learn the context and application of our salvation, for we too must have independent faith if we are ever to be an asset within His Kingdom.

  • ”A Samaritan Woman Came to the Well” (Sermon Sunday)
The recorded account of a woman set in all sorts of sin, snarred in false worship. She becomes the interactive recipient in which "the Restorer" would practice His ministry. From the religious prestige of Nicodemus to the lowly shame of a Samaritan woman, all needed to obey the new birth. Journey with us in this beautiful section of Scripture, together we learn to discern our calling, acting upon our faith in Jesus Christ.
