Happy New Year!  Because there are so many family members as part of this audience Denise thought it would be a good start to the new year to do a show on family systems, family integration in treatment programs, and just brainstorm with one of our experts on simple tools and strategies for families to use to improve their situations in the home and with their addicts.  We have learned that addiction is a Family Disease not just a problem for the addict.

This week Denise interviews Emily Lake, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has experience working in a variety of sectors including state-funded programs, psychiatric hospitals, and private treatment centers.  At this time she is a therapist at Destination Hope in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Sylvia Brafman Mental Health Center in the same city.  The interview includes discussion about families with addicts in treatment as well as those who have not participated in treatment programs.
