Do you wrestle with wanting to trust your loved one even though they’ve lost your trust over and over again? Maybe you want to start giving them small freedoms but don’t know when it’s the right time. Or maybe you want to show your loved one that you want to be able to trust them but you don’t know where to start.
This week, I am driving home one of the major issues when it comes to loving those in recovery: learning how to trust after so much dishonesty. I share my personal experience of how I earned back my mother’s trust after two years of living in recovery and how this trust came with new freedoms. When it comes to trust, it’s not easily earned after much turmoil. However, trust can be redeemable, it just takes time to earn it back.

Do you ever feel stress or anxiety from your loved one’s addictive behaviors? When was the last time you actually took time for your own healing? Maybe you forgot what it’s like to take care of yourself because you’ve always had to take care of other people. Or maybe you can’t remember the last time you allowed yourself to simply enjoy the environment around you.
This week, I am talking about the importance of loving yourself through the recovery process. Many families forget what it’s like to take care of themselves because they’ve undergone the stress of dealing with their loved one’s addictions. But I want you to know that how you show up for yourself is how you show up for others. Don’t forget to love yourself even in times of stress. The best thing you can do for your loved ones is to allow yourself time to heal and process through your own recovery journey.

Or maybe you have a child who is dealing with a drug addiction and you need a strong support system to help you maintain those boundaries.
This week, I am discussing how to set healthy boundaries between you and your family members during their recovery journey. Have you ever had to use the tough love approach when it came to a loved one’s behavior? Maybe you’ve tried different approaches but nothing seemed to be working when it came to providing care and the proper treatment.
This week, I explore the idea of tough love and when it is necessary. I have been asked this question numerous times and I want to address the reasons why tough love can be essential in familial relationships. Tough love can seem risque, but in the right light it can make a positive difference for your loved one’s future. As I share my experiences, I also discuss the topic of enabling and what that looks like for the family.

When Addiction Treatment Doesn’t Work: https://structuredsoberliving.com/when-addiction-treatment-doesnt-work/
Did you know that the criteria for being a good clinician doesn’t include them also being in recovery themselves? Sure, clinicians who have their own recovery journeys can be a great source for those who are currently in recovery programs. However, clinicians who don’t have a recovery journey are just as qualified to help those who are struggling.
This week, I am discussing how clinicians who aren’t in recovery themselves actually have an unbiased therapeutic foundation for those in early recovery. I also talk about how to ask the right questions to ensure the best treatment for you and your family. By asking facilities about the history of the facility, as well as the ratio of clinicians in recovery vs. those who aren’t in recovery, this allows you to really understand the dynamic of the treatment you will be getting.

Regardless of what you have been told, there isn’t a one-size fits all treatment for recovery patients. There isn’t a magical length of time that qualifies good treatment and there for sure isn’t a magical dollar amount that promises a full recovery. There is, however, specific qualifications that determine if you or your family member is getting the best treatment they deserve.
This week, I’m discussing the different qualifications that produce healthy environments for recovery. Whether it’s a 12-step recovery program or individual therapy sessions, every individual's recovery journey is unique and needs the proper treatment. There may not be a one-size fits all program, but the education of the treatment facility and its therapists is a step in the right direction.

This week, I’m talking about the epidemic of adolescents and vaping THC. With the push of legalizing marijuanna in America, I break down just how easily accessible adolescents are able to purchase these vape pens. Let’s take a look at just how dangerous the effects can have on adolescents and how to spot the addictive behaviors.
