We fall in love with potential, hold ourselves hostage to expectations, and then wonder why we're disappointed. In part 5, we're exploring how the expectations we impose on ourselves and others create unneccessary suffering, and why hope begins to die the moment we turn it into an expectation.
We all have our reasons. But sometimes they're just excuses dressed up as explanations. In Part 4, we're talking about owning our mistakes, separating accountability from shame, and learning to tell ourselves the truth without letting our past define us.
In part 3 of Radical Acceptance, we're challenging the what-ifs, the years we think we wasted, and the imaginary versions of ourselves we think we should be. Especially post addiction, it's easy to let regret overshadow growth. I talk about believing the positive feedback and compliments we are given. I talk about the time lost when we are being held hostage in the past we need to grieve already or the future we are afraid we won't have. All while we are missing out on the present. We need to find ways to appreciate who we are.
I could've been somebody... except... I already AM.
You've been waiting for them to say "I'm sorry."
Turns out, they ARE sorry. Just not in the way you were hoping. LOL
Part 2 is about accepting that some people may never apologize, take accountability, or validate your reality and then deciding that you don't need them to.
I should be further along. They should know better. This shouldn’t have happened. Does this sound like you, too?
But “should” doesn’t change what is.
In Part 1 of my Radical Acceptance series, I’m talking about the difference between accepting reality and approving of it, and how letting go of what should be allows us to finally deal with what is.
Acceptance isn’t giving up. It’s where change starts.
It has been roughly 3 months. I've thought about recording every single day. I couldn't contain it any longer. I've been... Isolating. I have a lot happening, but all good things. I just want to call attention to the fact that I do it, I'm working on it, it is not healing, and publishing this episode is my way of taking some of my power back.
This episode talks about my own personal experience over the last few months and admitting to myself that I can do better. Opposite the co-dependence, lives the isolation; the not dealing with ANYTHING or ANYONE.
I hope that some of you can relate, and that this episode inspires you to take the next step in proving to your nervous system that you are the boss. Any step out of poor "self-care" habits, is a step in the right direction. I hope that for you.
It was a long time coming. I finally saw what I was doing to hold myself back and not hold myself accountable for the pain I felt.
In this episode, I sit down again with one of my closest friends—this time to talk about what came next. Getting clean. The early years. The parts no one really prepares you for.
This is Part Two: This is the good part; the shift out of chaos and into recovery. We talk about what it actually looked like in those first few years, how our paths didn’t line up, and how those differences shaped who we are today.
First solo video - reintroducing myself and explaining why Addictive Personalities exists.
My first interview. My first time on video.
In this episode, I sit down with one of my closest friends to share the raw, unfiltered parts of our addiction journeys. From meeting at 15 to navigating chaos, staying connected through our 20s, and going separate ways in our 30s—this is our story.
This is Part One: the context and the backstory. Next, we’ll dive into life as moms, women in recovery, and what it really looks like to heal later in life.
