Healthcare organizations never had enough resources to manage the myriad of systems that were deployed in their organizations, even before the current workforce challenge. There are many systems still running at hospitals, health systems, and clinics that are never accessed (aka "technology debt"). Some of these systems are kept simply to ensure the data within them is available should the need arise.   

With fewer staff, managing these legacy systems is difficult. These systems also pose a risk for healthcare organizations. Healthcare IT Today caught up with Tom Liddell, CEO of Harmony Healthcare IT to discuss the growing legacy debt and how they are helping organizations address it.
