Labour Unions in the country have issued a notice to embark on a nationwide demonstration against the government’s imposition of a 15% VAT on Electricity. This follows the expiration of the labour groups’ two-week ultimatum to the government to withdraw the controversial tax, but the directive to the power distributors remains. In protest against the policy, organised labour have announced a nationwide demonstration on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

Scores of people have reportedly lost their lives after a crash on the Accra - Suhum road close to Nsawam in the Eastern Region. At least 10 people could be counted lying motionless on the ground.

Four firefighters have been injured, with two in critical condition, after the last floor of a two-storey building collapsed on them during a fire incident at West Legon. The two firemen, Raymond Ansah and Joshua Kankam, who sustained burn injuries that have left them in critical condition, are currently on admission at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), Legon.
