Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has said lack of information about the function of the legislature by judges has resulted in many “erroneous decisions” against some factual situation in the House.

Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo on Sunday said talks with the International Monetary Fund were going well and sought to reassure investors that the negotiations would not lead to a reduction in the face value of government bonds. The president's speech to the nation sought to reassure Ghanaians and the markets that the government can curb an economic crisis that has forced it to turn to the Fund for financial support.

Former President John Dramani Mahama has professed a number of solutions to the government which he says when implemented would help the country out of its current economic woes. The solutions include the government cutting down on expenditure by reducing the number of appointees, abolishing or realigning state institutions with similar functions and the suspension of non essential projects.

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has ordered the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to pay due compensation to its customers who have been affected by the prevailing challenges with the prepayment vending system. According to the PURC, the directive is, “in compliance with the law and a demonstration of good customer service.”

A dispute over a parcel of land at Central Dzorwulu in Accra has left one person injured and at least a vehicle set ablaze. The vehicle belonging to two suspects who organised some thugs to demolish a bedroom apartment is said to have run into a ditch in an attempt to escape from the police.

The body of a yet-to-be-identified young woman has been recovered from an abandoned mining pit at Konongo-Odumase in the Asante Akim Central Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

A Supreme Court nominee, Justice Ernest Yao Gaewu, has told the Appointments Committee of Parliament that he is no longer a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He said he resigned from the party on September 16, 2020, and, therefore, gave the assurance that if approved as a justice of the apex court, he would discharge his mandate devoid of any political interference.

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Tuesday, 18th October 2022, cut the sod for the commencement of construction of a 4-tier interchange at Suame, in fulfillment of a pledge he made during his tour of the Ashanti Region last year. According to President Akufo-Addo, “the Suame Interchange will be the first 4-tier interchange in the Ashanti Region, and the second in Ghana, after the Pokuase Interchange which I commissioned on 9th July 2021.”
